Parking Problem
My Street is always full with vehicles, so I can't park my car infront of my door, as other cars from other streets/roads are parking their. I wanted to know is their anything I can do about this? I've told my local council, but they don't seem to be bothered and have done nothing about it.
Please can someone help me.
Thanks

Re: Parking Problem
You have no right to park outside your house or even in your street - the best you can hope for is to apply for a resident's permit.

Re: Parking Problem
Sadly not. The only people to listen would be councillors who are interested in resident parking schemes from the point of view of council coffers and promoting plans that fit in with their ideology for the city/town.

The problem is my local council have told me that because everyone pays road tax, they allowed to park anywhere they like. Also the cars that park on my street are from the street opposite mine, as they can't park there (double yellow lines on the road).
Can I still apply for a Road permit? If so, how do I go about this?
Thanks

The best line I've heard when parking on an everyday road is you don't even live around here
Told him to look after the car while I try and remember where I do live

I've told them to move their car and they have done, but they keep parking it there and I have to park my car right at the end of my street.
Can I not contact the local community officer or anyone else?

A residents permit is only any good if you live in an area that runs them. If you don't then they are useless. The only other thing really is blue badge holders can fork out and get a disabled box painted close to their property. This happens on quite a few parked out roads.
Just to summarize, the people parking on your road are not breaking any laws. The best to be said is that it is anti social but if a resident permit came in it has pluses and minuses, they aren't universally loved by residents.

Do you tell them or ask them?
There's not a lot you can do about where people park. as you've already been told if you pay road tax you're entitled to park anywhere you like. apart from the obvious places.
I expect the police will tell you the same really.

Re: Parking Problem
have a word with your neighbours and adopt a strategy of bad parking ,ie dont park close to each other, but leave a space not quite big enough to park another car in, and when one of you wants to park a little shuffle around will give you all a place to park.

I've actually got a Disable Parking space infront of my house, but they still park there, as the disable parking space was for one of my family members and they (who park) know that.

Unfortunately it still doesn't change anything said and a box row erupted on one of the streets I used to live on. They are breaking no laws. There are a couple of million other cars that could come and park in that space with a blue badge, it's unfortunate there's someone else with a blue badge knocking around but in a packed street it's more, not less likely to become prime space. A nice word with them is the best you can hope for.

So they can still park infront of my house, even if they DON'T have a blue badge?
I did have a word with them and they called the police. The police said that if it happens again a local community officer will have to come and sort this problem out. But I don't think they can do anything....
So that's why i'm asking if their's anything else I can do.

Re: Parking Problem
Oh no, that's illegal if there is a disabled badge box and they are
(a) parking in it without a disabled badge or
(b)with a disabled badge and without the badge owner embarking and disembarking for every journey parked there. The same legally applies to you, you are not allowed to park in that space if it is not being used for the badge holder on that specific journey.
I thought you meant they do have a badge, in which case it's you against everybody else in the neighbourhood with a blue badge. I do apologize. In which case you need to get a digital camera and take a few days worth of photographs of them parking there and contact the local parking enforcement in your council. I did this with someone parking over a right of way, they aren't interested without photographic evidence - although they may send out a parking warden. Best of luck.

So I can't even park infront of my house if I don't have the disable passenger with me?
