dog barking (yelping) for hours on end should I call rspca

A new neighbour moved next door I think earlier this week.

Since he moved in his dog has been barking sort of sounds like yelps clearly unhappy for at least 6 hours a day, today it has been going on since 4pm'ish and still going. If I go to the wall between our flats it sounds like the dog is scratching something trying to get out of a confined space so at a guess it has been locked into a small space to stop it roaming about the flat whilst the neighbour is out.

The dog is driving me nuts but I wonder if its situation is justifiable for the rspca for it to be called out.

I need some thoughts thanks.

--edit--

to add I have seen the other flat from when the previous tenant lived there, and the other side of the wall is like a little cupboard area but without a door below some stairs.

Re: dog barking (yelping) for hours on end should I call rspca

Funny enough, Ive just sent a similar complaint in.

First, contact your local council & ask for the environmental protection department dealing with noise nuisance. They will contact the Animal wardens & send them out to see if the nuisance is as bad as you say.

If it is bad, they will send you a "pack". This is a set of papers so you can fill in the dates & times of the noise, usually 2-3 weeks worth. If it is deemed a nuisance, they will act.

I`m at the 6 week stage & ready to snatch the ****er & take it to the RSPCA. This particular dog is mis treated.

Alert RSPCA of your concerns..........
record the barking if you can - and take any pics you can for signs of physical negligence..............
and phone the local council to report noise pollution.......
It's all going to take time and a diary.

Yup Yup SMG

Edit....... any recording of the barking will not only show that it's a nuiscance - but the 'type' of barking will show more

Re: dog barking (yelping) for hours on end should I call rspca

If its yelping quickly and high pitched then it could be in pain, if its whimpering, then its likely to just be upset because its lonely.

It would be worth phoning RSPCA for them just to check it out...

I have a neighbour with a great dane almost as tall as her. In my opinion the dog is too big for the house. I have never seen her take it out for walks and its constantly barking indoors. Sometimes I can hear it run around thudding into the wall. She is opten screaming and shouting at it.

I called the RSPCA about 3 months ago. They told me someone would pay her a visit anonymously and would contact me to give me an update. To date Ive not heard anything and the problem is still there.

And YOU didnt follow it up?

When you make a complaint to the RSPCA, give it a day or so, then ring them back and ask what they have done !

yep report it to the rspca for the dogs sake, the poor mutt could be getting mistreated and i couldnt have that on my conscience if that was the case.

Report it to the RSPCA. You are concerned about the dog . At least you have then done what you can .

as a dog owner i say phone the RSPCA it might just be because its just moved in but i wouldnt complain if the RSPCA came to see me about my dogs as i would prefer to have to show them its ok rather than for an animal to suffer because no one reported it

Good point about the 'new move'.
Let's hope we hear that everything has gone quieter. And I think it must have
