Green Lanes- more 4x4 access
why is it that the goverment always stick there nose in on all our hobbies
what with DEFRA and national parks and changes to the byways
its getting the only place youcan take a nice fuel efficent 4x4 is tescos sainsburys or asda car park
what we need is an opening up of green lanes to 4x4 vehicles

Re: Green Lanes- more 4x4 access
Increase the road tax on all 4x4 to at least £5000 per year!

Re: Green Lanes- more 4x4 access
Green lanes rapidly become brown lanes with deep ruts when the 4x4's have been through a few times... then rain washes away the loosened topsoil and bigger erosion occurs...
If people want to charge around in their off-road vehicles (and I also include bikes) they should get a farmer's permission to use part of his land.

Re: Green Lanes- more 4x4 access
I have just bought a nice eco-friendly Range Rover V8 . I agree that green lanes should be usable, but not at the expense of their use by walkers, horse riders etc.

That is utter twoddle! Everyone is however, entitled to their opinion. Do you want my diesel puffing audi to have a £5000/year tax too? I agree the people that don't use their 4x4s for the purpose they were intended should not buy them, but increasing the tax on any vehicle isn't going to stop people buying/using them...as we've all found out with the hike in fuel and road taxes.
My 4x4 is road taxed (at a brilliant £190/year ) and I intend to use it properly - off-road! It's not a status symbol for me, but a hobby...much like th'engineer probably.
I'm looking forward to adding my Winch Bumper & Winch to the Range Rover and taking it to Langdale Quest Nr Scarborough!
@ Papa Smurf: Can you drive on the beach in off-season at cleggy? If so thats ace

not any more its impossible to get a vehicle onto the beach these days ,and if you own a boat you've got no chance of getting it wet , fun has been outlawed by the local council

Re: Green Lanes- more 4x4 access
considering we all have shares in landrover and jaguar thanks to gordon brown we should respect 4x4 vehicles
and allow more access to countryside
