Re: Fruitcakes
Whats the diff between an xmas pudding and a fruit cake? Most of the ones in shops have alcohol in them, I want a non alchoholic version that still has an authentic taste, i.e not a normal fruitcake.

slm, lots of xmas puddings don't have alcohol in them. Just check the label.. There are also loads of recipes online if you fancy making one yourself...

Re: Fruitcakes
My Christmas pud is extremely alcoholic. It's getting a weekly dose of Serbian brandy (don't ask).

Not having xmas pud this year....way to stuffed normally for it...
So home made chocolate/cream cakes (probably with some brandy soaked in them )

Mmmm... Home made chocolate cakes with cream and brandy - makes the toast I just ate seem rather pathetic

How long will your fruit cake using the recipe above keep for Kymmy. I am going to make it on Friday with my daughter.

Re: Fruitcakes
Hmmm, good question.....
If grogged then probably a good long time, but in simple truth my fruit cakes have never not been eaten within 2 days
But I would put it in a clean sealed container and you can even keep it in the fridge or freezer until xmas...

Wouldnt bother with the freezer. People keep a tier of wedding cakes for christenings. They keep for years if kept in the right conditions
