Sheet music downloads help
My old friend, who sings in a choir, has asked me if I can get a copy of sheet music for 'While shepherds watched their flocks by night', to the tune of Lingham (don't know if that is the correct spelling). I've been searching for hours but not joy as yet.

Re: Sheet music downloads help
There is a piece of music called Lyngham which has been used with various words. I have found a reference to show it has been used with the carol 'While shepherds watched their flocks by night'

To-day we sang "While shepherds watched their flocks by night" to the tune of Lyngham, an "additional tune" at the end of the old Methodist Hymnal. I was pleased. It is such a joyful tune. However, we had not sung it for a long time, and, I suspect, some of us had never sung it!

You can hear the tune played on the organ here and the sheet music is here. I hope it's the one your friend had in mind.

Jo you are an absolute star, that's the one! How on earth did you find it? Phoned my old friend (82) straight away to let him know I got it. He is over the moon, and needed it to give to a childrens' choir he knows of, who were asking him if he had it. Printed off a copy, priceless! Many thanks once again Jo, I'm thrilled to bits.

Re: Sheet music downloads help
I'm glad it's the right music.
The name Lingham rang a bell from years back when my Mother was a member of the Hallé Choir and I used to get dragged along to rehearsals. The only ones I used to enjoy were the rehearsals for the Carol Concerts so I'm happy all that sitting for hours in the stalls has been put to some use.
