Harry Potter Book 8

Well its a spin off and its due for release Amazon has it in stock ready to sell and its title is Beadle The Bard a collection of stories Dumbledore gave Harmione. I would say it stunk of cashing in but Rowling hardly needs the cash

Re: Harry Potter Book 7

No it's not Zing..it's the gem studded book that was auctioned for charity but in a simpler format...which will be again raising money for charity..

Quote:
It is hoped that worldwide sales of the new book, which has been translated into 28 languages, will raise millions of pounds for the Children's High Level Group (CHLG), a charity co-founded by Rowling to help vulnerable children across Eastern Europe.

Yes it is Maggy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tal...eedle_the_Bard

Mentioned in Deathly Hallows apparently

Quote:
The first mention of The Tales of Beedle the Bard appeared in J. K. Rowling's 2007 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final novel of the Harry Potter series. The fictitious book, that functions as a plot device, is bequeathed to Hermione Granger by Albus Dumbledore,

This quote from HERE in 2007 makes me laugh

Quote:
Author JK Rowling has completed a set of handwritten fairytales which were mentioned in her last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

There will be just seven volumes of The Tales of Beedle the Bard and they will not be published.

One copy will be auctioned to raise money for her charity, The Children's Voice, and the author will give away the rest of them.

Re: Harry Potter Book 8

That was until Amazon purchased the book from auction and agreed to make copies available to the public with the majority of sales money going to Rowling's charity. Along with the Collectors edition with 100,000 being published world wide.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0956010903

My copy just arrived here at work

I wouldn't say its a spin off or cash in as it originally wasn't going to be released, and it was a part of the storyline of the final book and also its raising a lot of money for charity.

Kymmy, the auctioned copy was bought by Amazon for £2,000,000. Amazon later persuaded Rowling to allow them to publish the book with proceeds to her charity.
