Is My Daughter Too Young For A WII
I am looking to get a Nintendo WII for my daughter. I thought about this when they first came out but thought she was too young. She is now a few months over 4. She does enjoy playing at other people's houses, and sometimes I feel that I'm being too strict by not having one at home, well not until she is older. She isn't even crying out or constantly asking for one, but I know she'd like one at home.
What do other CF people think? Should I give into my feelings of guilt. Do other WII owners on here have kids of the same age who play it? If so do you think it is a good idea or should I wait - going by your experiences.

Re: Is My Daughter To Young For A WII
Our son uses his granddad's Wii when we go visiting. He's six. But I wouldn't buy one for us yet - he doesn't have the attention span to play the actual games for any length of time. He just likes messing about with the avatar settings.
He plays a few basic flash games on our computer at home and that's more than enough for him for now.

If you can afford it, you are happy for her to have it and use it in the house, and you feel that it would make her happy, then go for it.
At the same time though, you shouldn't feel 'guilty' for not getting her one if any of the above don't apply.
Do what's best for both of you.

That's where i am now, my daughter plays games on the PC on the cbeebies and nick junior websites, but as Zing was saying about hand and eye coordination, I was thinking of introducing something a bit different.
She loves watching people play games so Im sure she'd enjoy playing too.
By the way can someone change the spelling of To on my title. It should be Too. Thanks.

Isn't that one of the great things about the Wii, that there are games that you can play for 10 mins and then stop?
I'd also consider the Wii Fit for kids too they have great fun messing about on them and it gets them active too.

Good point, although we have all the outdoor keep-fit activities you can shake a stick at up here anyway.

Re: Is My Daughter Too Young For A WII
I think, at the moment, if she is not asking for one, why bother? If she is happy to play at her friends house you should just continue with that. If she felt that she "really needs" one, she will ask.
But most people buy one for the family rather than specifically for a child. That way their children are not over indulged and they are not glued to the thing permanently.

Re: Is My Daughter Too Young For A WII
I know all kids are different, but when my 6 year old niece comes over she nags & nags about going on the Wii, but gets bored of it very quick when she does have a go!
Then she nags about putting a different game on, then gets fed up with it all together!

Re: Is My Daughter Too Young For A WII
My daughter is coming up on 5 in January; she enjoys playing the Wii and is actually quite good at some games.
We are now getting her Ds for her birthday. The Wii will be good for her Hand/Eye coordination.

Get her one, she will realy enjoy it and become very adept at the games.
She will also show you how bad you are at the games as well

I wouldn't buy one for a 4 year old, I'd wait till they are near 10 before I'd consider getting them one.

Similarly my just turned 6 year old loves the flash games (and some are the more strategic flash games) on Gamehouse, miniclip, Lego, Nick, Noggin, PBSKids etc.
Similarly on places like gamehouse he likes to download games. Play them for 30 mins then download another game etc. I have just cleaned many games of the PC to free up space.
He's also been recently banned from the computer from Monday morning to Friday afterschool and it has improved his attitude and school work and made it more of a treat. He fought this at first and still asks occasionally but knows it is now how it is.
So, if she is not asking then I would not bother. Are you really using this as a ruse to get one for yourself? How about she really needs a PS3 to watch disney movies in Disney Blu-Ray HD?
