Smile Christmas Decorations

Ok, I know it's sad and I know it's too early!!

BUT I've just put up the Christmas tree and put the lights on, and I'm now sat watching my two youngest daughters decorate the tree.
Tomorrow I'll put the ones up on the roof and the window.

Last Christmas was our worst ever financially, kids got very very little although they were great about it as they knew our situation.

We threw the tree up about a week before Christmas day and I took it down the day after Boxing day, truly miserable.

This year I'm very prepared and excited, kids all asked for laptops, they're all getting them and some extras they know nothing about, which I won't mention here incase they decide to be nosy.

I'd just like to say, even though it's a bit early

Now go get that tree up
Or if it's a bit early, when do you plan to put up the tree?

It will David, you'll remember when she did this or that, said this or that and hopefully you'll find that you and your daughter will be able to laugh with each other on a sad day.

Re: Christmas Decorations

I spent last Christmas in hospital so I wanted our tree etc. up early this year.

Please can someone tell me the name of the thing that takes perfectly good xmas lights from one year, then makes them defunct when you get them back out again.

Still they've been replaced now and a little sparkly light is lifting spirits around here.

Sorry to hear about your Nan, but I think you have the right idea about putting the decorations up.

I think that whatever ones beliefs, there are many positives to be gained at this time of year - and the pleasure of a nice tree, decorations & pretty lights is part of that.

I was in Denmark last week & the people I met there were genuinely exited about their Christmas trees & decorations - a real 'feel good' impression, which was very nice.

Hope this Christmas is fantastic for you.

The name of the thing is sod's law, if you'd checked them in June they'd be fine

Re: Christmas Decorations

Sod's law, Murphy's law, doesn't matter lol chances are they worked fine when you put them away and won't when you bring them back down.

Need to check out my loft, some of the decorations were ones made by the kids that I've had for years and I think they were made with some sort of clay and then painted and they're ruined by cold, wet, damp, not sure.
Think I can convince the 17yr old to go back to primary and make me some more?

Re: Christmas Decorations

I wanted to put mine up tonight but i wouldn't have had time, and i'm dreading it because i just know last year i hated Christmas so much and when it came to taking the decor down i just threw it all in the cupboard and said i'd worry about it this year. Well i think i expected to buy a new tree and nice decorations but i haven't, and i can't now cos i'm skint so it's gonna be a mission to get it all looking nice

Btw,

Re: Christmas Decorations

Just for Pia

A pic of the tree and some of the decorations made by my kids.

The snowman wasn't made by the kids, I've had him so long I don't remember where he came from.

Re: Christmas Decorations

I'm usually a Scrooge about Christmas anyway. This year my daughter can't manage to come home for the first time..So it won't be anything special this year either. Not a lot of work recently so less money to spend as well.
