How many hours do you work?
I'm often in contact with field engineers, one of the issues we hear alot about is overwork. Whether it's Virgin, C&W or one of the many contractors I'm continually shocked by the ammount of hours some of you guys are putting in. I'd like to get a handle on what the overall picture is like so if you have time please drop a post and let me know how things are for you and how many hours you put in during an average week.
Also interested to hear about how your company gets you to do more hours, things like travel to work rules, bonuses, penalties and jobs per day etc.
Thanks
Neil

Re: How many hours do you work?
I work 50-55 hours a week, but my choice - I only travel 10-30 mins each way every day (depending on which site I am at), and I like to start about 7:30am.
My work-life balance is good - work hard through the week, and evenings/week-ends are free unless major system outages (which are very, very rare).
But then again, I am a manager, and do nothing - I must be carp at it if it takes me 55 hours per week.

Re: How many hours do you work?
I think the OP is interested in the number of hours VM and contract staff rather than the average CF poster are putting in...

Hang on - that means you're doing 16 hour days, 7 days a week. Ignoring the fact that that must be illegal, when do you sleep!?

How about the number of hours spent viewing CF? 112 hours per week must be pretty close for some members.

In which case he'd be better off working through normal Union channels within Virgin Media itself, rather than asking on a forum with a wide membership base ...

Well, yes. I didn't say it was a particularly smart way of going about it
