Someone in Swansea needs Welsh lessons...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7702913.stm
Quote:
When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed.
Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated".

Made me chuckle

16% do. Don't forget we do have one or two non-Welsh people living here too

Re: Someone in Swansea needs Welsh lessons...
Wasn't the word 'swyddfa' a bit of a clue? Or does everyone in Swansea buy their stamps at Tescos?

Re: Someone in Swansea needs Welsh lessons...
The majority of Wales do not speak Welsh and very few read it...apart from place names.
And some of those insisting on Welsh being taught are English incomers...

More people read it than speak it....I can pick up a welsh newspaper and have no trouble reading it but to actually speak it I need to concentrate and it takes a while for everything to fit because most English grammar is the wrong way around so I have to 'reset' my thought process first.
