TENS Machine
Ive done my neck (again) which in turn is resulting in pains down my back and right arm, I have had no sleep last night as I was so uncomfortable.
Ibuprofen which normally works/helps isnt touching it at all now so I was thinking about one of these http://www.lloydspharmacytensmachine.com/
Anyone used one?

Re: TENS Machine
I tried one a few years ago, but it didn't do anything for me. The underlying science is good but I think you'll have to try it to see if it'll work for you.

It helped my neck and back problems, I used to take the max allowed dose of Aspro every day, Ibruperpen did not help (allergy to Paracetamol) now I only need Aspro very occasionally. It dose not help every body so you will have to try one.

Re: TENS Machine
I use a tens machine for lower back pain, gives between 2 & 4 hrs relief at a time, my wife suffers from fibromyalgia and she uses it for pain relief as well, means she doesnt take as many tabs.
For what they cost there worth a go.

My Mum has had back & neck problems for several years now. She uses one of those, and does find that it helps.

Re: TENS Machine
I have one (though mine is a different one to that) and it does help, having said that I have to have it on full power to get any help from it because of the nerve damage I have.

Re: TENS Machine
I remember being given a tens machine in about 88 from a stop smoking clinic, I had to put a sensor on each ear lobe and turn the thing on whenever the "cravings" occurred.
It was absolute rubbish, it didn't do anything apart from irritate me, oh and lighten my wallet by £125 for a weeks treatment, each to their own though.

Re: TENS Machine
I used one for a strained neck and they work. How they work is very simple, it causes nerves in a a different tho' close area to the pain to send messages that confuse the brain and so reduce the amount of pain that is felt. It should work with just about anyone unless the pain is so great your brain can't be distracted.

Re: TENS Machine
I used one when in labour with my 4th child. Found it uncomfortable as I kept putting it too high and ended jumping all over the bed (funny now, not at the time)
I knew a guy in college who used one for lower back and leg pain.
We were sat in class one afternoon and he jumps out his chair, gets this horrified look on his face and starts desperately trying to put his hand down his trousers, while twitching like a madman, then runs out the room by which time I'm in hysterical laughter.
He came back 5 mins later and explained one of the pads had slipped and stuck to a testicle!!
I thought I was going to die from laughter, one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Yes, he still uses it.

Yes - entertaining; until you find the right setting. The 'suggested' time settings are unrealistic but stick to the warnings.

Re: TENS Machine
I have one for my back, it doesn't really work for me, though on the right settings it can feel like a deep massage which is quite good.
Though I did use the wrong setting and on max power once, I think I put it on tazor mode as it basically paralysed me in bursts. Since then I've been reluctant to use it.

Re: TENS Machine
A Lloyd's Chemist Tens machine was the only thing that could get me upright when my lower back gave out. They also do those hand held infra-red type vibrating ones quite cheaply which also help. Get down there when they open this morning.
