Kill It, Skin It, Wear It
Is anyone watching this? So is Fur in or out for CF members? Pretty graphic scenes down in the mink farm...

I eat meat, I'd wear leather but I'll never ever wear fur.

Hmm I think there are very clear differences between countries - If they skin animals alive they dont deserve to live themselves. And fox scenes were awful

I think the disturbing thing behind fur is how animals are killed (if that video she just saw about making fur in china was the norm).
In the slaughter industry there are certain regulations that need to be adhered to, seems that these are overlooked by a lot of fur manufacturers.

But what if the fur was made as 'humanely' as the leather for your jacket/shoes was made? Would that make a difference?

That sickened me but animal welfare is unknown in china, not really specific to the fur trade. Makes me very angry that people could physically hurt animals in that way.

Nope, still wouldn't wear it.
I once saw a video that had been banned.
Nice Vietnamese (or similar) family went shopping, selected the most gorgeous German Shepherd puppy, took it home. I almost threw up when the mother proceeded to lie the puppy belly up on the chopping board and slit it's stomach open.
Then I saw a marketplace with cats. They hit it over the head, dipped it in boiling water then cold water, flicked above the eyebrows and skinned the cat in with one sweep down it's body.
Now I know in that culture that's how things are and that they eat cats and dogs the way we eat sheep and cow but it still totally grossed me out.

Re: Kill It, Skin It, Wear It
What i found interesting was that the Mink farm seemed absolutely fine - very humane compared to what the anti fur people report.
And yet the anti fur bloke showed her the horrific films from china etc, and said that the mink farm were showing her what they wanted her to see. - the best of the best...
yet thats exactly what he was doing - showing her the worst of the worst.
The fact is that where there is a demand, there will be a supply. And as there is still a demand for real fur, there will always be a supply.
Wouldn't it be better to regulate the fur industry, rather than just ban it?

Interesting how a lot of people wear leather but not fur, I suppose that if fur came from a food stock animal then there would not be a problem...

Re: Kill It, Skin It, Wear It
[innuendo ignored] yeah, and I'm sure that they wear beaver furs, but unless britain would like to put beaver meat on the menu then should anyone here have the right to wear beaver...
