Plane Spotters Corner

Hi,

This thread is for everyone who enjoys Planes and is interested in seeing different planes, talking about different airlines, etc.

I will start off with these pics from my holidays.

I know a lot of people are into old war planes but for me it is the commercial airlines, the huge jets that I find amazing.

Taken at East Midlands Airport, EMA:

Taken at Toulon Hyere TLN, France:

Really like the Virgin Atlantic photo Uncle Peter.

There is something about the 747 that makes it amazing.

I want to try and find an airport where I can get as close as ossible to take some good photos.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Just a word of warning..

Last time Jenna and I parked up at the end of a runway (actually Gatwick on the west side of the airport as we were waiting for her mother to fly back from Jersey) we got the now common full stop and search by armed police under the terrorism act. So best to avoid the road directly adjacent to the perimiter fence.

Ta if you want to get up close to 747s, 777s, A330s etc then there's no better place than the AVP at Manchester. There are a few other unofficial spots around the airfield you can get even better photos from at which the presence of spotters/togs are generally tolerated.

http://www.spotterswiki.com/index.ph...%28MAN/EGCC%29

People from all around the country visit, in fact I've spoken to a few foreign pilots and crew who regularly take time out to pay a visit and take some pics.

Looking good. I've bookmarked that site. I might have to arrange a trip up there one weekend.

I was hoping it was going to be, but there's nothing listed for this year. They didn't seem to advertise it very much, it was only by accident that I saw it on the Evening Post website.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

One of these days I'll get the SIA A380 when a) it's landing east-west and b) I have a card in the camera. So far I've had one or other but not both. They recently started an evening flight several days a week which goes over here about quarter to seven - the original A380 flight is 5 something in the morning, which I wasn't getting up for.

Tonight they're landing west-east, unfortunately, which at least means I'm not deafened every 90 seconds. Just the occasional distant roar of one taking off and a glint in the distance...
