London Flat Share advice
I've got a friend who is moving from the US to London and looking for a flat share. It's never something I've come across but:
1 - If he sorts out a suitable place from one of the plethora of sites on the internet, would a prospective landlord want a deposit before he arrives in this country?
2 - If so - how could he pay the deposit or at least show willing?
3- Presumably a letting agency would be better. Does anyone have any idea of agencies that do room lets and provide the guarantees?
He did get an offer of what appeared to be a remarkably cheap room, but the suspicions were aroused when the so-called landlord wanted Wester Union Money transfer albeit in his name - a scam I believe.
Any help from anyone would be appreciated.
