Studying Hints and Tips

Afternoon All

I'm currently self-studying for the CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA Network+ exams in the hope of increasing my chances of landing a nice new job.

To that end I've got myself a couple of half decent study books and I'm working my way through them.

It's been a while though since I've done any serious study, and I'd welcome any tips that people have that have helped them in similar situations.

Particularly things like making notes from written materials, reviewing topics, self testing, that sort of thing.

Thanks

Re: Studying Hints and Tips

I always found that working out what was really important in the subject material was the best way to pass exams. Reading round the subject is all very well (and I do that now that I have graduated) but it doesn't help pass exams. Exams are passed by knowing the core information, what the examiners consider really important, all else is superfluous.

Re: Studying Hints and Tips

Get yourself a pack of different coloured highlighter pens and then highlight similar passages and information accross all your study material so that you can easily compare them and find them when writing up. Colour coded to represent different themes, ideas, etc.
