Hospital Food
This makes me laugh http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7534719.stm No where does it say the food is wasted because it's totally inedible.
I'm always in and out of hospitals and I can say I'd rather eat a sandwich than eat hospital food.
Good to see Ipswich hospital is mentioned (as the worse) as that's my local joint and the food there is a joke. I always take the snack box option. You know its bad when even the people serving it don't recommend eating it.
Is this a local thing? Are there some hospitals serving food that is fit for consumption? Or is it just me and some people actually like hospital food?

Re: Hospital Food
I've just spent two weeks in Singleton Hospital, the food was fine in the most part although the menu might have been a bit wider.

Re: Hospital Food
Over the past 4 years I've had my fair share of hospital stays having chemo, and the food was great.
There were the occaisonal leftovers from some patients, but that ws due to them not being well enough to eat what they'd ordered

Re: Hospital Food
Last time I was in hospital. Lincoln County Hospital. I ate nothing for the duration I was there. The hospital makes the local farmers pigswell look mighty tempting.

Re: Hospital Food
The best hospital food I ever had was at the maternity unit I went to when in labour.Freshly made on the premises it was food designed for breast feeding mothers.Nothing was brought in and even the doughnuts were made on the premises.

Re: Hospital Food
I have had two stays at The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and the food lacked flavour but eatable, I have no real complaints. I stayed at The Duniden BUPA private hospital in Reading and the food was superb but at the room charges I would expect it to be very good.

Re: Hospital Food
Had a wonderful 3 weeks in maternity with my first & the only meal worth eating was breakfast which was a sort of DIY buffet. Thank goodness hubby could bring in something to keep me going.

I spend a fair old bit of time in and out of our local hospital, the food is superb. Prepared and cooked in their own kitchens and served from proper heated trolleys, so I'd say it's not the case that all hospital food is bad.

Re: Hospital Food
Had an overnight stay at Treliske Hospital, Truro following an angiogram. Was given a large pasty and a chunk of fruit cake, proper job!
