Dress Code - "Smart Casual"

So (Ladies and Gents).....

The dress code says 'Smart Casual', it's an evening do (something like a post-reception wedding do), this time of year, indoors, mostly people you don't know.

What do you wear? How 'dressy' do you go?

To me, smart casual means anything except paint spattered jeans with rips in the knees and/or backside...

Re: Dress Code - "Smart Casual"

To me, smart casual mean "no jeans/shorts/combats, no t-shirts"; for example, chinos and a polo shirt/collared shirt, or non-suit trousers and collared shirt.

All I'll say is read the invitation properly and bear in mind the following words of wisdom from Viz...

Mourners - read the dress code instructions on funeral invitations very carefully. Sombre, whilst being only 2 letters away from sombrero, is a world apart in tone.

None Chavy

I think you know what i mean.

- manky old trainers

- tracksuit or ideally full on shell suit

- cap

- silly socks

- lots and lots of chunky, shiny bling - the shinier the better

And there you have it, you are a chav

I think shoes (no apostrophe thank you) should be worn definitely. Barefoot is not a good look for smart, casual or smart casual.

Understand your viewpoint, but if the invite is to someone else's party/function, surely one meet their standards, for their sake?
