Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
Aspire doesnt quite sound right does it? Anyway i tend to use the big Tesco near me but with due regard for surging grocery bills,i decided to give my local Asda a try.
What a difference..!
It looked like there was some kind of food strike going on. The shelves looked very bare, the ranges were very limited and i would question the quality of some of it. Some own ranges looked very low grade.
Also there seemed to be a disproportionate number of chavs and people with personal hygiene issues in the store.
Never again.
I mainly use Tesco but also Aldi as they have a lot of good stuff.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
Morrisons for me, they are cheaper than ASDA and Tesco and the quality of the food is much better.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
I don't "aspire" to use any supermarket, but when shopping I tend to use my local Sainsburys as I can't drive, and Sainsburys have helpfully driven all the competition from the area.
I don't use Sainsburys for the quality of produce on offer (most of the fresh stuff is substandard), their selection (tends to vary between crap and OK) or their prices.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
It's usually Morrisons I go to. If I don't go there then I go to ASDA since both are pretty close to me. And I must say, our ASDA is nothing like yours.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
Tesco's for the weekly shop, Morrison's for fresh produce. Tesco's tends to have a better stock for packed stuff (and is open later around here), but Morrison's is way better for Meat/Fish and Fruit/Veg.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
I used to go to Morrisons but found them getting very expensive so I went to Asda 'cos there is no Tesco's in the town and I'm not really impressed much by Sainsburys these days.Shame as they used to be great 30+ years ago
Frankly if I had the money I would shop at Waitrose which I reckon is the best of the lot at the moment.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
There was a campaign around here recently to get buyers away from the big supermarkets and support their local corner-shop.
Supporters were outside the local Tesco, some were having a dig at those choosing to use the 'big boys'. They just didn't get the point.
My local shop it Spar. Totally useless when I need to get most things. Just one example a few years aho I needed skimmed milk for my protein shake. They didn't have any. I went the extra 2 miles to Tesco, they had shelves and shelves. I have every sympathy for the small business but I am going to use the shop which sells what it is I need.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
Sainsbury's is the closest big supermarket to me - and their own brand stuff is, I think, the best of all supermarkets. And they sell fuel.
Every day I pass a Lidl, and apart from a set of computer speakers many years ago, I have never ventured inside.

I use Sainsburys but then my wife works there and we get a discount so it is worth it. Plus its on my doorstep.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
We use ASDA for our heavy stuff - home delivery - cheaper than getting a bus there and back.
for the rest - we use a combination of our local market, butchers, Lidls, iceland, Farm Foods or Sainsburys. All of which are within walking distance - 10mins max.
It's just a case of shopping around for the best quality deals.

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
The poll should be multi choice
Sainsbury for the online stuff, Morrisons for everything else (which is missing from the options).

Re: Which supermarket do you aspire to..?
A mixture for me. I use Asda's online shop for the large, heavy stuff and Morrisons or Tesco for the day to day stuff.

Surely this is as much to do with the location of the store, as anything else? I use our 'local' Asda, which is in Bearsden - a suburb of Glasgow that is not known for its chav (or indeed Ned) population, or for excessive cases of dubious personal hygiene. Quite the opposite in fact, it's Blue Rinse Central.
I drive past a Tesco to get to it, and I could go the same distance in a different direction to use Sainsburys. However, we choose Asda because it is way bigger than any of the local competition, is always well-stocked, is damn good value and has a decent range of own-brand products.
I find Tesco's own-brand range to be extremely limited, confined mostly to their basics range, or whatever they call it. Asda has a very good standard quality own-brand range as well as its Smart Price stuff (which we don't buy).

We do our weeky big shop in Tesco, we pop into ASDA & Sainbury's for the bits we cannot get elsewhere.
