Speeding Ticket!!!
I am 17 and just got caught doing 40mph in a 30 zone. I was pulled over by a police bike, who took my pass certificate and went and did some things on his bike then came back and lectured me. I wasn't given a ticket or anything he just handed back my certificate and left. AM I GETTING PUNISHED i.e. going to get 3 points or a fine etc...???

I think if you were getting points he would have took your license they did when I got stopped and he did not give you a ticket or get you to sign anything, it looks like you have just been ticked off but give it a couple of weeks to be sure and slow down.

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
cheers
by the way I didn't have my license on me because i just don't want to risk losing it. He accepted the certificate and didn't say that I would have to produce my license within a week etc. Is that good???

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
At age 17 you will have surely only just past your test ?
If that is the case and you have been driving for less than 2 years you could easily be made to retake your driving test all over again.
You could have been lucky and been let off. Just make sure you slow down.

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
I believe he would have given a ticket, but this could turn up in the post.
IIRC if you get 6 point or more in a certian time period you licence is void and you will have to retake all the driving tests again.
Slow Down

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
When you take your licence to the police station they may either keep it and the points will be added and the licence will be returned in the post.
Or return it there and then.
If you do get points you will need to tell your insuance company, who will no doubt up your premium.

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
Were you cautioned for the offence, under the Road Traffic Offenders Act?
If not, then you were not issued with verbal Notice of Intended Prosecution
Providing you have both a valid driving licence and insurance at that time, then the matter probably isn't going to go any further
However, the office may still submit the report and it will then be up to the CPS to decide if it is in the public interest
It is getting increasingly more common now that such roadside offences are waived, as corroborating evidence is preferred as so many cases are now defended

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
I had something similar, except I was within the speed limit.
Driving home from a mate's house at about 1am there was a T junction with a mini roundabout.
I was going straight across and had about 500yds visibility up the road to my left (ie traffic would have to give way to me anyway) and there was nothing.
So I pootled around the mini roundabout without slowing down.
Noticed a bike behind me flashing it's headlight and pulled over.
Was a copper upset that I hadn't slowed down for the roundabout, but he couldn't do anything other than express the bee in his bonnet as he wasn't on a proper police bike.
I'm glad you realise how serious your offence was and how it could have turned out.

You'll be ok mate, if he didn't give you a ticket to produce your documents at the police station you'll be ok, just take the lead out of your shoe in the future.

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
You are lucky there, just take things slower from now, its not worth loosing your license as your freedom is pretty much taken away from you and its also not worth risking someone else's life. Just take it easy on the roads

Re: Speeding Ticket!!!
Definitely no points this time, you have to sign a ticket to say you accept them, and you have to send your license away (the police are obliged to inform you of this).
If you get more than 6points in your first 2 years then you must take both theory and practical parts of the test again (at full cost).
