Which Police force do I call?
My partner who is up in Dewsbury had her phone robbed. She is staying with her aunt up there.
For whatever reason which I will get to the bottom off they seem to me to be reluctant to call the police. I have rang the network and let them know to.
Now I will be inging the police myself if my partner does not but do I need to ring the police in Yorkshire or my local force West Midlands?
Cheers

Re: Which Police force do I call?
It should be the place where the crime was committed.
Realistically, if the person who is the owner (loser) can't be bothered to do report it, you won't be able to do much. It's the person who was robbed who will have the information needed, i.e. how, when, who, and ultimately, if there is something to investigate, that can provide the evidence statement.

Re: Which Police force do I call?
Your partner will be the only one able to respond to questions when the incident is reported, so it should be them who reports it. If the police ask you a question that you don't know the answer to, what are you going to do, say hang on and call your partner? The police deal with this all the time, they won't bite and they won't say you are wasting time.

Re: Which Police force do I call?
Having worked for 2 mobile networks, the crime has to be reported to the police in the area the crime took place. If you also have insurance, you may experience a problem in making a claim as you gave your phone to your partner and was not in your direct ownership. If you have insurance, check the T's & C's.
Also, some forces are now reluctant to issue a CRN or LPN (Crime Reference Number & Lost Property Number). Insurance companies are aware of this and should still process any claim.

This is why the powers that be love to say crime is down. What they omit to say is that reported crime is down. Aside from any other issues,if your partner doesnt report the crime then she is complicit in skewing crime stats and if lots of people do it, policing resources will be cut on the strength of crime going down!

...and it only took to the fifth reply for someone to start moaning about the state of policing, when that was not the topic of the thread

Re: Which Police force do I call?
Find out why your partner is reluctant to report it first. You may be opening a can of worms.

Not really...I'm not walking through hordes of collapsed drug addicts and the like, like you've had to, which you have stated previously in other threads
