I don't normally get junk mail.

I rarely get any letters, just the usual bank statement every few months and thats about it. On wednesday I bought something from Intersport, they offered me one of those discount store cards and said I would save 30 pence off my next purchase. Normally I just say no thanks, but I figure as I only spent £4 and would save 30p next time, it might be worth me getting a card incase I buy more expensive stuff in future.

I filled out the form with my name and address to get the card. And on friday I got a letter from Diamond Resorts offering me a two or three day holiday for £69, then this morning another one from Sky offering me a Sky+ box. Only two pieces of mail, but as I say I never really get any junk mail at all. So they had to get my name and address from somewhere.

Can they really send out junk mail that fast though? If I gave my name and address wednesday, to be getting crap on friday and saturday of the same week.

It is just a guess it might be completely unrelated to intersport. Unless someone here is willing to test it by getting a store card.

Yesterday I got 47 spam emails in my Gmail inbox...However many I got through my VM I'm not sure because at one point I was getting so many I finally had to invoke the spam filter that VM provide and delete them BEFORE they get to my inbox.

So two spam emails in two days seems more manageable.

When you filled out the form, where there a couple of check boxes in the 'very very small print' to say that you didn't want further promotional mail from the company concerned or from other "carefully selected"(!?!) companies?

It's amazing how crafty these companies can be, especially when sharing our private information.

There may have been and if there was it is my own fault I guess, I shouldn't have been in such a hurry. Even after I said I'd take a card, I thought why did I do that, I'll never use it.
