Groin Strain Recovery
M_L_M you are not allowed to post in this thread
Any tips for speading up recovery of a groin strain? Strained it running but its almost 2 weeks now and its still sore when i twist my leg outwards.
Doesnt seem any point going to the Dr as its only a nagging pain. I concerned that if i start runnig again it will make things worse.

You need to keep massaging the area to get some blood to that area, getting blood to the area will help heal the groin, apart from that I can't think of anything else to help you.

Re: Groin Strain Recovery
Few thoughts...
Not to mention that you did it running. Sounds much better if you say, for example, "We got about halfway through Chapter 2 of the Kama Sutra when it happened". "She's in a neck brace". "We're getting quotes for the ceiling". It sounds a bit wuss to say you did it running.
See someone like Rammy - an expert in bending and twisting things. May be able to help.

Re: Groin Strain Recovery
Best to go see the doctor. I had a recurring groin strain for years which got progressively worse. Turns out it's bursititis. Physiotherapist has worked wonders but I wish I'd went 5 years earlier.

I probably could help but I'd have to examine the patient first, take a case history etc...
If it is just a groin strain (damage to one of the adductor muscles) then massage, rest, ischemic compression, stretching, strengthening and a guided return to exercise would help.....
....without having a prod at it I can't really be any more help really
Go and see someone who specialises in this stuff (chiropractor, osteopath, physiotherapist) , the GP will prolly just give you ibuprofen and tell you to rest.....

Given resting only would you expect to see improvement within 2 weeks?

I don't know because I have no way of ascertaining how bad the injury is and whether you have any associated problems (pelvic joint stiffness/symphysis pubis dysfunction, leg length difference etc) The other problem is that while rest alone will probably ease off the pain it won't do much for rehabilitating the injury site and will therefore probably leave you more vulnerable to re-injury in the future because of the way that scar tissue is laid down in such cases.
