Honda Accord electric aerial broken?

My 2001 Honda Accord's aerial has broken i think. Has been working fine today then i left the house to go fill up with petrol and noticed that the aerial hadnt extended. The motor wasnt making any noise as it usually does when you put the fascia on and now its doing nothing at all, the aerial isnt going up or down. I checked the brown remote wire and its fine.

Thought it might be a fuse but i checked my manual and it doesnt appear there is a fuse directly for the aerial which i thought was strange. Checked the stereo one and it was fine

Anyone with car electrics savvy any idea?

Re: Honda Accord electric aerial broken?

Check the wire via a multimeter set to DC voltage (anything higher than 15volts range) with the red on that wire and the black on any earth point, then turn on the radio.

If you get roughly 12-13 volts then the radio/wire is fine and the antenna motor is gone, if no voltage then try again as close to the radio on that wire as possible to confirm if it's the wire or the radio antenna control output that has gone.

Good advice on the above ^^^^^^^ Electric arials are ok until they go wrong, I used to have a Celica which had an electric aerial, the rain used to make the aerial go a little rusty, I had to spray it with WD40 every month to keep it lubricated.

I wondered that as well but i cant seem to get into the wiring harness attached to the aerial. This would make sense though cause like i said it had been working perfectly before and wasnt struggling which is sometimes a sign of the motor about to give up.

The aerial is on the drivers back arch and when i popped the boot it didnt seem as iof there was any way to get into it, although there must be.

Remove the o/s/rear 1/4 panel trim to get to the aerial mate, sounds like the motors gone to electronics heaven.
Only a couple of clips and a screw.
