Grow Your Own Fruit or Veg
Anybody growing fruit or veg this year?
At the moment on the patio we've got on the go:
Potatoes x 2
Cucumber Plant
Chilli Plant
Tomatos x 2
The potatoes are in sack planters and one looks like it's gone mad!!
I'll post some photos later!

Re: Grow Your Own Fruit or Veg
The missus has an allotment, so got loads growing at the moment.
It's her second year now at it, a lot of hard work but keeps her fit and healthy. Got everything from chillies to pumpkins, spuds galore, herb garden, leeks, garlics etc you name it. It's going well at the moment, and she's always coming back with bag fulls of veg and stuff. Can't beat it, tastes a lot better too.

Over £100 a year is a lot, I think we pay about £35 and it's in an area that's well out of the way but only a 5 minute walk so hardly any interfence. The ones in the town aren't that good, things are always getting nicked from those ones obviously.
The commarderie is excellent, even if every crop fails she'd still come back with bag fulls.
It's good for us as we don't have a garden so it's a good substitute, saying that our window sills are starting to resemble a small garden at the moment.

That's a shame as some places have quite a few years waiting list just to get one.

Apples, a few herbs, thyme, parsley, chives, not done many this year.
It's too late for me to get some tomatoes in I think.

Re: Grow Your Own Fruit or Veg
I love our garden, and although it is a fair size, we keep our allotment down to a manageable size. Nevertheless we have runner beans, dwarf yellow beans, rhubarb, carrots, cabbage. In the greenhouse 7 different types of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, courgettes and lettuce.

To which the Council will put forward the case for selling the land to developers. Then hey presto - they'll be growing block of flats!
Anyway - We've got
Strawberries
Blackcurrants
Blackberries
Cherry & pear trees
and the usual Raspberry canes (growing like mad!).
Plenty of Raspberry Vodka this year

Re: Grow Your Own Fruit or Veg
Ahh yeah - we have 4 runner bean plants on the go - but think one of them may not make it...
