Re: Radio controlled planes
No chance, you know those radio controlled plane costs loads to buy / make, and only 3 seconds to revert back into millions of tiny little bits, they ain't worth it.
I'd rather have this....

Now that's what I'd call fun.

Re: Radio controlled planes
Yeah, it's a shame they cost so much.
It's the kind of thing you wish you could just borrow and play with.
I don't think I'd even want to fly the thing if I'd spent however many thoudands on it.

Re: Radio controlled planes
I used to be into in quite a big way (a good number of years ago), both powered and gliders.
Gave it a another go recently with electric (no noise, easier to find places to accept that) - mainly to see if the children were intrested
A reasonably cheap way to get into it is to try one of these ParkZone models (about £150 ish)
http://www.parkzone.com/Products/Def...ProdID=PKZ4575
A host of info here
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_18..._1/key_/tm.htm
Don't be tempted by the fighters etc, start with the J3 CUB (recommended for beginners)
And these thing really fly well. Quite strong too.
Plus the control layout is correct if you want to go on with it - on a lot of these cheaper set it isn't

Indeed they are, well spotted
The Parkzones are available in the UK, I have one (actually a Decathalon), bought about 2 years ago. cost me £109 IIRC
little bit of googling should turn up some suppliers, allso the spare parts were available.
They fly very well, and I'm recommending from my experience
The other RC site just has a mine of info on the plane, because they are more common there than here
If you really want to get into electric, this guy is something of an expert, with lots of interesting ideas
www.flyelectric.ukgateway.net
local to me and seen some of these flying, loads of fun

Re: Radio controlled planes
try http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/searc...dio+controlled
Has some cheap RC planes and helicopters
these will give an ideal start, without breaking the bank, and give the basics of control

Anyone not fond of a certain female Canadian warbler known for being on the soundtrack of that Titanic movie might want to mute the sound for the first 4 or 5 mins though.
