Don't forget to vote!
If you haven't already, get yourself down to your local polling station and vote.
Even if you're unable to pick one of the candidates in your area because they're all useless, spoil your ballot.
We're lucky in that we actually have the right to vote, so don't waste it, let your opinion be heard.

Re: Don't forget to vote!
yes, done mine
- I was mindful that it is a local election & voted for the candidate, rather than the party

My son whom is entitled to vote for the first time ever wasn't going to.I'm just about to drag him round the polling station after I suggested that this was what he should do rather than not vote at all.
If you don't vote as a means of protesting think again..it will just be ignored as apathy.Spoiled papers do however get noticed and recognised as a form of protest.
Even better think about the fact that if you DON'T vote you may well let some party even worse than the present lot a foot in the door..
So please do try to vote even if it is only a tactical vote.

Well then when your community tax soars, the bins don't get emptied often enough and there are holes in the pavement you have no right to complain.

Re: Don't forget to vote!
Could not be in my area for election day as I am back at Uni. Didn't look into postal voting in time. I am not too concerned with who wins my local elections, all the candidates are ok and the same ones win all the time.
Wish I could vote for the Major of London though, live just outside and go inside it quite a lot...

Our voices do not get heard anyway..and also there are pot holes in the road now, as well as high taxes, etc, etc.
The best way to make a difference is for all of the UK to not vote at all...'
Also for some reason media coverage this year is very low, I wonder why...'

Oh great attitude. The down trodden of generations past who had no vote at all but campaigned for it would be wondering why they bothered.
The Tibetans would love to have a vote in the running of their country ,so much so they are willing to die for the chance and then there is you who thinks it's a waste of time.
If no one voted at all we would probably end up as a fascist run country with absolutely no human rights at all.
No news about the elections?I've seen plenty today

It was even being covered on CNN this morning as well as on the radio.

Re: Don't forget to vote!
compare coverage to last year and it is minimal if that...you have to remember the government are not for the people, and the vote is only there to alleviate your own frustrations, to appease your own conscience...it is all an illusion and people fall for it.

I am not saying the vote is fixed; No. I am more saying you vote but nothing ever comes of the results you expected, it always goes the other way. All false promises...and I did not vote.

Re: Don't forget to vote!
I don't understand why people do not vote. This country is at its knees, so just vote some random player or we will never see rid of these scum NU Labour.
Also, something else that cheeses me off is the fact that the likes of the BBC always put 'OTHER' for the reminder of the parties votes, well that's no bloody good is it, why not just put down the correct parties for the group 'other'

I complain every year that I can never use the polling station exactly at the bottom of my street, yet they still insist I can only use the one nearly half a mile away from my house
I normally register for postal voting, but forgot to this year

They are 'other' because they don't attract a large enough vote and since the battle is usually between the main 3 people like to see that information at a glance rather than root though over 10 parties

Re: Don't forget to vote!
Voted at about 7:45pm, there were only two other voters there at that time, one guy who didn't speak much english, and a blind lady who had to be guided step-by-step through the whole process.
Some results should start coming in at around 11:30'ish.

I know you didn't but it's not how many people who don't vote that counts. They can ignore that. They can't ignore those who do vote and they can't ignore those who spoil their ballot paper. Not voting has little impact apart from the fact that it can open the door to certain fascist or racist parties.
So if you feel it is all false promises(and I also feel the same way) then try the spoiling your paper angle next time.
Frankly I feel it is a case of use it or lose it.
Plus if you haven't voted then you cannot really moan or complain about who ever got in because you chose not to be part of the process. If they do something you don't like you abrogated your right to complain.
