Just a quick update folks on the situation, It's in the hands of the CID now, I've got to go and see a DCI in the morning regarding the matter, it looks like they are going to go all the way with this one.
The guy who burgled my mates house is still on the loose, the police haven't arrested him so it looks like he's got away with it Scott free.
I'll let you know how I get on later tomorrow.

there will be no case what so ever!! If the CPS prosecute, sue em. They will then soon back off.
The CPS advise the coppers on all matters, personally I dont they have a case.
Explain everything, the idea etc and go from there

I see where your coming from Webby but if I get charged I'll lose my job, lose my job and lose everything else. I'll tell you something I'm getting fed up of the police attitude in this country, we've more or less caught a burglar for the police, have they arrested him?? Nah to much paperwork, the next time I see something the police should know about I'm keeping my mouth shut.
