Need Some Help From Forum Members
I require some help, from fellow members concerning travel insurance, with medical insurance attached.
We plan to go to Florida in 2009, (it will take that long to save up), and my son has the following problem, he has a heart problem, with medication, high blood pressure with medication, and aspergers syndrome (although you would think it, if you saw him), the strangest thing is the first time we went it was through Asda, and then the following year it was Post office, we have tried them now, and they won't cover him this time, is there any company out there, that forum members might know, with phone numbers, that could help.
And please, please no sarcastic comments, as this is my son we are discussing.

Re: Need Some Help From Forum Members
Check with Asperger's charities as they normally have links with insurance companies that will cover it. This normally applies to most things that put off insurance companies, including old age. Help The Aged have lists of insurance companies that have no upper age limit and expect age-related problems and will cover them.
The raised blood pressure though, you'll just have to pay the premium from the insurance company. It shouldn't make the price unfeasible though.

Re: Need Some Help From Forum Members
Hi forum members, l wish to thank you all for your help and kind advice, l am very grateful for it, the reason why we take him to Florida, is so that he can see, touch, and feel the dolphins, as they have that magic touch, when we went there last April, we got in at Sea World, at 9am, and we left there at closing time, it was very nice of the staff there, and it brought a limp to my throat, when we spoke to the staff, and explained about my son, and they were so kind and they brought the dolphins over to him, to allow him to feed and touch them, the smile on his fac, was worth every penny of the holiday, so l am grateful for the all the advice given.

If you can, save and save a bit more and go over the road from SeaWorld to their sister park Discovery Cove where you can have a swim with a dolphin. It truly is amazing.

Re: Need Some Help From Forum Members
Another thought if you can apply for it is the American Express Platinum Card.
https://www.iplatinum.americanexpres...ProtectionHome
The card is expensive at GBP400 a year but that includes travel and accident for all the family and other joined cardmembers, so you get a card on the account for your parents and they also have annual travel policy and so on. You can cover a lot of people on the policy with the right issuance of additional cards. Not relevant for you but the cover is also good to 40m for scuba diving (not the usual 30) and for off piste skiing (with guide).
Lounge access which is good for the trips
Car Rental insurances so you can waive those CDWs PAIs and other TLAs the hire company want to charge you. If you are renting a car in Florida for a week those may run to a couple of hundred dollars on just the one car hire.
Might not be the most suitable but covers a lot. I know a friend of mine has his 79 year old father with triple heart by pass surgery on his card as an additional card member. You can probably imagine how hard it would be to get travel insurance for his father otherwise.
The small print
pre-existing medical conditions known to you when you apply for your american express platinum card and any cards on your account, or prior to booking your trip, whichever is the most recent for which you:
a) have attended hospital as an in-patient during the last 12 months
b) are awaiting test results on or a waiting list for an operation, consultation or investigation;
c) have commenced or changed medication or treatment within the last three months;
d) require a medical, surgical or psychiatric checkup every 12 months or more frequently;
e) have been given a terminal prognosis
f) know of any reason, which may necessitatie any trip to be cancelled or cut short.
I don't know anything about Aspergers so don't know if that will exclude it.
Good luck in the search.

Another vote here for Columbus - used them before I get and all in one bank account with travel insurance. AG - does your bank provide an extended banking services with your account? Could check that route? Good luck!

No problem, if you need any more help I'm known for being "mildly" obsessed with Orlando so just give me a shout.

Never been to Gatorland, I specialise in Disney parks but also have a very good knowledge of the other main parks.

Re: Need Some Help From Forum Members
Thankfully for Mr Fingy its not the Millennium Mall
My family emigrated to Florida years ago, and cumlatively i've spent several years there, so I know a bit about it (if anyone wants to know anything)
