Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Something I really, really hate: all that anti-piracy crap on DVDs, 'you wouldn't steal a movie' and all that.
Haven't they realised yet that the only people who actually see these things are the people who've bought legit copies?! In other words, the ones who aren't the bloody pirates? The people to whom the entire issue is irrelevant?
If I were a pirate I wouldn't copy all that stuff, I'd just copy the movie and extras. It's so irritating it almost makes you sympathise with the pirates; when I watch a DVD, the first thing I want to see is the menu screen - no ads, no trailers and definitely no anti-piracy nonsense. I am not a pirate. Stop assuming by default that I am. I've never even played a ripped-off DVD, let alone bought one. You have to wonder what else might be on there - spyware, for example. With a retail copy you know it's clean.
However, if your DVD player software supports bookmarks (as PowerQuest's PowerDVD does), there is a workaround: play the DVD from the beginning once, then set a bookmark as soon as you get to the menu screen. Once set, the bookmark allows you to skip all the blurb the next time you play the DVD.

The BBC iPlayer really annoys me because you start off downloading a programme at full speed and before long it slows to a quarter speed and I end up taking 3 hours to download something that originally was supposed to download in 30 minutes.

Well super you have my sympathy, tbh mine is quite old by today's standards, it's a Hotpoint Mistral. It woke us up this morning making one heck of a racket. Switched it off, left it for 1 hour, switched it back on and it seemed OK, but 15 minutes later it was at it again. Just about to browse to get an estimate for a new one, must be frost free though, can't be bother with all that scraping, and melting ice everywhere!

Good luck with your search, i have no faith in frost free as my friend has a samsung supposedly frost-free which the thermometer broke almost as soon as the guarantee expired
Unfortunately i'm not so lucky to be able to buy a new one, so i'm looking for a decent 2nd hand one or one on http://www.freecycle.org/

Hey that's a great site super, have bookmarked it, because I am looking for a pc monitor as well. Used to be able to pick them up at our local 'amenities centre' (dump) for a couple of bob, but they no longer are allowed to do this apparently. Sooo frustrating when you can see the dumped ones in their shed.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
My 28-year old Italian secretary went to the pub with Simon yesterday, I feel very jealous, although I do not fancy her and I have refused to take her out.... and she made a point that I see her, when she was all over Simon...
yes, she is very pretty, excellent body and sexy (pussycat type) but Italian women do not turn me on.... you know the matriarchical system in Italy, even Capello at his 60's has to listen to his mama....whenever I become friendly, she become bossy....
