I'm getting very close to sticking the remote somewhere my son would be very shocked to discover it.
I wish he would watch more than 5 seconds of ANY show...

It wouldn't work now we have Virgin but my son and husband both had the same short attention span some years back and drove me crazy with their channel hopping.
I quietly got my own back with a cheap one-to-one remote. As soon as one of them started I would keep tuning the TV to the programme I wanted to watch.
Annoyed the heck out of them and it was some weeks before I owned up.

Turn off the parental controls then see what happens.

It's not that I want to watch anything in particular, I just don't want him to watch TV for the sake of it and the channel hopping indicates that this is what he is doing.

Funny thing about Barclays.. A friend of mine used to bank with them (not sure who he banks with now, as is now a US citizen). One day, he was moaning about them (IIRC he'd tried to get some money out and failed due to the bank buggering up a payment into his account). He just finished a 15 minute rant about how they were the worst bank in the world, and he suddenly looked at me and asked why I didn't change to them. I politely pointed out that a) I was happy with the Abbey and b) his 15 minute rant had pretty much finished any chances Barclays had getting my custom even if I wasn't happy with Abbey.
Humphrey Lyttleton did a bloddy funny rant about the post office and how he objected to them spending millions of his stamp money on stars to advertise the post office (Chris Tarrant and Elton John). When he finished the rant, he finished with something along the lines of "and in case you are worried that the post office know where I live, well, they haven't found me in 12 years".

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Took today off to do the grouting of the tiles in the new kitchen
When the tiles were put up one of the walls was slightly out of alignment so the father-in-law-to-be put extra adhesive behind them to build ithem out so they were level.
Prodding one gently this morning (nothing better than a gentle prod in the morning) I discovered it was loose.....and so was the one next to it.....and the one next to that.....
In the end I had to re-stick 8 tiles. Now I have to wait for them to dry properly (and hopefully stay stuck this time) before I can grout.
I've done half the kitchen though, so at least I'm getting somewhere

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
come in this morning to find the QA system is down - and why? - because we've run out of disk space.
These things are supposed to be monitored.
Still, a swift delete of some log files and we're back in business...

oohhh, and another one.
Women, when we men are doing some DIY and we say to you can you stay there for 5 minutes because we'll need a hand - when we then ask you to hand us something 45 seconds later, we kind of expect you to still be there
