What if you bring a bird back? First impressions count, she might get used to it being a tip once she has got to know you but might be repelled by it if presented with it upfront.

Yeah but if it's messy as a first impression, it might get shelved under Things About Him I Expect To Change.
Messy is not so bad. Dirty is another thing. In my house, you could eat off the floor, but you wouldn't want to. That's messy, not dirty. LOL
