I don't think its anything to do with the current climate - it's the way things have been for several years now - there's no such thing as company loyalty - at least on the companies side - they expect undying loyalty from you, but will dump you at the drop of a hat

Yeah I think your right as my Dad has gone thru several redundancy scares (thankfully unscathed) but I think the current situation has made it worse somewhat?

I am so sorry to your your news Gary It must have come as a shock for it all to happen so quickly like that. Keep your chin up I am sure with the support of Mrs Gaz you will get through this.
Zing if you don't plan to breed from your dog the best thing you can do is to have her spayed it protects against some nasty diseases and is better for the dog.

You can have her spayed within two weeks of her heat finishing, maybe your vet is different

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
well the vet nurse totally got the estimate wrong lol I do not blame her on that though. I may let her have a litter if itsnt to messy this time. There is a dog staff over the road thats well tempered and of good stature so he could sire lol . It all depends if this time grosses me out though

I'm sorry to hear your news homealone (Gaz). I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I'm sure that something better is just round the corner. Try to enjoy your break away and I'm sure things will turn out good in the end
@ Zing - If you're considering letting your bitch have a litter, bear in mind its not just the mess. Its going through labour and the birth with her not to mention sleepless nights with pups for 8 weeks. I'm not trying to put you off, but i think people enter into these things without thinking them through. I would not have the energy personally

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Ive been hit with varying viewpoints. Some have said I shoudl let her have a litter but if I do I want it sooner ?(obviously when she is older) rather than later as I do want her spayed sooner rather than later

My personal experience is only of dogs, not bitches but i can tell you what i've been told by owners of bitches. You shouldn't really breed her until she's 18 months old and more than likely in her 2nd or 3rd season. This is basically to make sure she's fully developed and comes to no harm in the actual 'act'. If you only intend one litter, its also advisable to get her spayed as soon after the birth as possible.
The only other advice is be prepared for sleepless nights as 6 (or however many) pups require round the clock attention and can be quite noisy/boisterous. They really would need you to be there 24/7 (or someone else) while she's nursing the pups. Then they need to be sold and off with their new owners by about 12 weeks, otherwise mum can get a bit nasty with a pup trying to latch onto her at a late stage.
Have you got full KC papers for her?

People are sometimes funny about buying without papers, so do some research into buyers if you do decide to breed
I think i'd be tempted to get her spayed to save any 'accidents'. Be sure to keep her away from dogs when she's in season
