Might be a silly question Stu, but on Vista each program has a separate volume controller on the mixer, have you checked to make sure that it isn't turned down for Firefox/IE/"Unknown Program" ?

Was tasked with assembling a garden archway before; the type that hanging plants climb up. One of the last pieces wasn't manufactured properly, thus rendering completion of assembly impossible. At this point there were two choices:
1. Disassamble and return for a refund
2. In a steaming rage, reduce said item to a pile of twisted metal
You can guess which option won.

Next time they either a) won't ask, or b) will give you more notice.
Hopefully you explained why you didn't go, if they couldn't grasp that giving somebody no notice for something like that (and just assuming that would be ok) was a bad idea then maybe they need to go away and think for a while

Something that cropped up in a conversation earlier...
Battered sausages from the chippy!!!
I went into a chippy once and asked for sausage and chips, I was confronted with a newspaper of chips and some long thin strip of meat with batter on it. I wanted a SAUSAGE!!! NOT a strip of meat with batter on it!!! If I wanted a battered sausage I'd bloody well ask for one! I should have at least been given the choice shouldn't I?!

I've noticed that. They only make battered meat. Yet if you want a chocolate bar then they ask if you want it battered.
