Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Thankfully not being stalked, just did not sleep at all last night and as I am off now on mat leave family and friends (being nice) seem to think that I can't be left unsupervised.
If I don't answer the phone they will panic that there is something wrong then the door bell will start. Giving up trying to sleep and going to my parents for lunch and to play with my nephew, then to the hospital to visit my MIL who had quite a big operation (thankfully successful) yesterday. Must try and train the cat to do housework.

3) People who use "Reply To All" on emails when it is not justified. It is bad enough people sending out regular "someone has nicked my Spoon/Bowl/Milk/Soup from the kitchen give it back" emails without a load of people hitting reply to all, and just replying "well, I didn't" or complaining about the fact that people nick other people's stuff. I know I could just block the list and/or email addresses the emails are sent to, but the school sometimes uses them for important announcements.

Oh the latter is the only thing I don't miss about life in a big institution. All that nicking of other people's food etc and the endless whinging about it used to depress the hell out of me...
In the end I would buy enough for one meal and eat it/use it before anyone could get their hands on it.Better to go shopping everyday than live with that.

Got an answer phone?Leave a pointed message along the lines of..I can't answer the phone right now because I'm taking the nap you keep nagging me to take<insert name of main culprit>.I'll get back to you when I've had enough sleep.
Do the same with voice mail.
Then buy some earplugs and then take a nap.

It's not the theft that bothers me as such. The kitchen is in another building, so I tend not to use it anyway (against University rules, we have a fridge, a kettle and a water dispenser in the office, and access to a Microwave).
What bothers me is recieving a pile of emails all relating to a trivial subject that has little or no relevance to me whatsever. You should see the amount of all staff emails that got sent around when the head suggested that some of the lecturers made a small change to their working practices.

the trouble is that everyone thinks the rules are for everyone else so even if there was an agreed rule not to send to all, it would still continue

Fingy I know how you feel I had it when I was pregnant with my son and if I didn't answer the phone they would ring the hospital to see if I had gone into labour, daft thing was they all use to say "well I will get off now so you can rest, you need all the rest you can get before the baby comes" Well you don't say!

if Fingy does what I suggested and invests in some good ear plugs she should get the rest she needs.I certainly did.

Buying stuff over the web is rubbish. Sick of ordering things on the basis that they are in stock only to find out later that they're not. Third strike, out.

I hate people who assume you'll help them move some stuff without even asking you then mentioning it at 9:30 the night before just before leaving saying 'be round in the morning, be ready'....
Especially when you ill/dizzy nearly all day everyday...GRRRRRRR

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Thought I'd got away with a visit to Livingstone, because the date suggested was one I already had booked in for one day in Cromer.
What happens? Livingstone's shifted back a week, so I'm there for 3 days the week after next. Wouldn't normally be a problem but, the day after I get back is Mrs Nugs 40th birthday - thanks to work for giving me the time to sort something...

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
The breadmaker Got the new pan this morning - non-stick surface doesn't seem as good as the old pan. Just making a rye n white loaf, and realised that the reason the rye loaf was partly cooked, was because I put too little yeast in. For some reason, I thought the markings on the spoon were teaspoons, but the whole spoon is a teaspoon - the markings are parts thereof. Can't think how I managed it. I only realised when I came to measure the sugar for the rye n white, and thought, "That's not a teaspoon of sugar", and then it dawned on me. Sigh. Oh and I glanced at the wrong recipe and put 80ml too much water in the rye n white - I read the recipe above, which is for plain rye. Sigh. I blame my age - and stress.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 5.
Vista.
Not had that many problems with it, but my home 64 bit business install is causing a few issues.
1) Flash Player won't play back any sound.
2) None of the Adobe CS3 products will install. No errors (not even in the logs which normally contain a lot of detail) just a note that they failed to install..
Grr.
