I see it as a question of 'how much is your time worth' - for me having the 2 or 3 hours extra a week where I can play with my kids, or even (very rarely) relax - is worth far more than the money that I pay the woman to clean.

Ahhhh! I keeping finding the most unintelligible postings and this makes me really depressed.

Has our educational system really become that bad or are folk just lazy?

Some people are not as literate as others. I had real problems when I was at school the teachers made me out to be thick. I was even put into remedial English because I couldn't write. Now maybe some here would agree im thick but just because someones spelling or grammar is not good does not mean they are either lazy or uneducated. Also sometimes you have to realise they are not even English

I bought a case of 20 bottles of Grolsch and it seems like it is the one bad case that slipped through quality control...such a waste

To be fair, I think what Incog was trying to say was that, even with the resources we have now - computers, printers, spell checkers, etc - some people still appear to be lazy when typing replies in forums?

- and I would never have thought you had trouble writing, zingle ? - presumably computers helped, but I have never pegged you for having trouble expressing yourself

Well, I am on my ninth bottle and none of them have been top quality, though barely drinkable. I have got nothing else in the house, besides spirits, so I am drinking them.

But anyone can get a spell checker zingy and the teacher who said you were thick was a something rhyming with banker.

I'm talking about those who use a mixture of text speech because it's just sheer rudeness and laziness.

As a teacher I've met children who are genuinely challenged in English but try their best to improve.Every Chinese child that I've met unable to speak,read or write English has ended up doing so fluently within a year,as have most Asians and other nationalities.

I've also met any number who just can't be a*sed to even try to get the basics despite being given one to one help and I've looked them in the eyes knowing that when they go out into the big wide world they will say it's my fault that they can't read or write despite the fact that they did nothing but pee about in lessons.

I've got the Blackpool weekend tomorrow - I have mixed feelings about it. I'm sort of looking forward to it but on the other hand, it's not that well organised, and the guy whose birthday it is, isn't that communicative - I send messages online and no response. So far I've had one response and that was because I got a bit sarcastic. I don't have his mobile number - I messaged him mine, thinking that the normal thing would be for him to reply with his number, but no. So I'm going without knowing what's happening and when, and without any means of communicating with him other than via another guy who's going. I guess I have these visions of me sat in a hotel room, bored, watching my mobile. This would not be so bad but for the cost - hotel room, superhero costume, new pair of jeans, Pleasure Beach pass... All adds up to a few hundred, and more. All my life I have been pretty much alone. I have the one good friend that I have known for over a decade now, but even he lets me down. And that's the thing - people are innately selfish and by extension, unreliable. So I have these feelings of loneliness, which are basically an innate human weakness, and with them, a sense I should be more social, and balanced against these feelings, I have the knowledge that no one needs anyone really.
