Re: English Question
What is the context?
Plurals, as in more than one plural, or a contraction of 'plural is'?

Re: English Question
I always thought the plural of plural was plural (like sheep, not sheeps)
Nope, once again, I am talking round objects - the plural of plural appears to be plurals (as quoted in the Oxford English Dictionary, and they should know).

Then I think the consensus is plurals...

I would say Plurals because, as a guide, I use the apostrophe when there's letters missing (such as there is = there's [i is missing]). Of course, there's more to the apostrophe than the 'letters missing' guide, but it's not a bad basic idea. Well, I think so anyway lol.

Re: English Question
The apostrophe indicates either that the word has been abbreviated in some form, or that the word has a possession. I can't therefore see how an apostrophe would be used in connection with the word plural.

Re: English Question
Plural is could be abbreviated as plural's, as in 'A plural's a grammatical form that designates more than one of the things specified.'
Ok, a bit obscure but...

One more vote for plurals.

Re: English Question
Oh come on! It really isn't that difficult to work out how to use apostrophes!
You should be able to work out when a plural's needed. You might also be able to find out by looking up a plural's entry in the dictionary, though plurals' entries tend to be incorporated into those of the relevant singular.
Does that help?

Re: English Question
Methinks it's a journey question - the end's not important, but the means is. Or is that ends not important, but the mean's is

I always thought they were pretty straightforward to understand, but when you look around at how many signs/official company documents/and so on there are around with apostrophes where they shouldn't be, or missing one where there should be..
If someone is confused about how to use them, that's one thing, but when businesses don't proofread, and end up making giant billboards announcing Condo's For Sale!, it makes my head hurt!

But it's obvious - Condoleeza Rice is moving to the outskirts of Manchester; so, "Condo's for Sale"
