Need to do a refference for someone
Whats the best thing to put down on a refference? The person who needs the refference is a very decent and honest bloke, I've known him for 15 years, he would go out of his way to help people. He's also a hardworking sort of guy.
Any ideas folks?

Re: Need to do a refference for someone
Basically just that - you've known him for 15 years as a friend / employer / whatever. You consider him to he hardworking and helpful.
Don't embellish, just tell the truth as you see it. Remember though, that it's best to say less rather than more, and you shouldn't make derogatory comments. If those had been required then you shouldn't be giving a reference.

Cheers Rob that's what I was thinking. Will this be OK?
To whom it may concern.
I have known ******** for around 10 years and in that time I have found him to be honest, trustworthy and hard working. I would not hesitate in recommending him for employment within your organisation; ****** has a wide range of skills which he implements well during his working day. ************** would be a great asset to any company.
Yours Sincerely
Nigel Marchant

Re: Need to do a refference for someone
Only amendments I would suggest would be to delete "within your organisation" (as I don't know how well you know the organisation he is applying to), and put "I believe he" in before "would be a great asset", as it is an opinion (imho).
