I have a job interview tomorrow with virgin media for a cable guy - Page 17

Hi Folks,
I had my assesman day on the 16th Aug at nottingham all went well i i made it to the interview there were at least 20 of us to start the day ,after all the tests and what not they thinned us down to 6 for the actua interview ( very scarey) Anyway i havent heard anything back yet i have contacted recruitment and they have tod me that they have not goy anything back yet from the assesmant day . I was wondering how long this actualy takes for them to get back to you .If anybody knows out there could you let me know Thanks everyone and good luck.

Took them 6 weeks to finally get back to me with the results of the assesment day. Hopefully wont be that long for you. I didnt get the job but asked for any feedback why i didnt.That was on the 25th July still not heard anything back lol. So good luck with it and hope u get treated better

Hi guys
ive got an invite to the assesment day for the apprentiship, its says i need a copy of my education certificates..... these are something that i litterally have no idea were they are!!

i have microsoft certificates but i was in school that long ago i have no idea if they still exist anymore!.. i dunno what to do.
also the presentation.. i dunno if its just me but i would feel like a right berk just talking about something that would just be proppa random to some people :p should it be something that others can relate to or litterally anything at all??

Hi Danny,
I was at an assesmant day 4 month ago i wouldnt worry about presentation we werent asked to do one ! you will however have to do some tests ie connect a couple of cable ends then you will do a pictionary type test where two of you will go in a room one of you will describe an item and you have to guess what it is by drawing it on a piece of paper simple realy after that you will get together in a group at a table and asked to work togeteher to design something to protect an egg so it dosent smash when they drop it from a height ( remeber to use the balloons )ha ha .
after all that you all will be singled out for a final interview the hard bit !! you will have to sell yoursef big time bud!!!!!!
Then comes the crap bit you are sent home and then wait and i mean wait 3 months after my assesmant day i still hadnt heard anything i rang every week only to be told a desicion hadnt been made yet eventually i got an email saying i wasnt succecsfull.
However my expereince although bad shouldnt reflect on your day and i wish you all the best but dont get your hope up coz it maybe a bumpy ride.
If you read through the forum you will see quite a few lads have had a raw deal.
But once again good luck and just enjoy the day.

anywone else having a **** time working for mcnicks or should i say mckellys??? wages wrong,long hours **** faulty boxs and modems,every enginner is looking for another job and all the managers are complte ****wits!!!!!!!!

I disaggre with you Rocco, kellys are in a completely different league to mcnicks and you shudn't insult us by associating us in any way with them. if you working in the south for mcnicks you shud know that anyone worth there salt stayed with kelly to work on better contracts, in better conditions for better money AND the client treats us like human beings. i'm lovin it!

Hi I have got to ask.

I have been given a job as a field tech, I start on 1st Dec in Liverpool, I have never done anything like this before, the last time I used a volt metre or anolg metre was like 13 years ago, I am 30 now so I am very rusty to say the least, I have worked as a surveyor/office work since then in different roles none of which was anything to do with wireing ect or phones. but some how I have the job, I know I nailed the team building and the 1 to 1 interview on the induction day. I know expieince is not esential but on the induction there was alot more qualified people there than me.

Any advise on training ect when I start on 1st Dec would more that helpful :-/

hi guys my first post love the forum just had my 2nd interview there told me it would take a week to find out if I passed or not has anybody ells had a call to say there passed or failed I’m from north east

I have had a call today saying that I have passed my second interview and been asked to an assesment day on Monday in Sunderland.
Hoping my Military background will help out

Newbie here,

I have got my 2nd telephone interview on Monday. Hoping it goes well. Leaving the Forces after 23 years and hoping my IT background will help. How often do they do assessment days in Scotland, and are they only done in Bellshill?

Great forum by the way, I have managed to glean some really good info tonight in preparation for my telephone interview.

Have you done any resettlement courses in this field as I have just done a 5 week course with CTTS in Lincoln

Yes mate, I done an MCITP SA, CompTIA A+ and COMPTIA Network+ with Blue Screen IT down in Plymouth. Passed them all, without too many problems. I had been advised to do the MCITP as it was what employers want, but I realised its not really what I want to do when I leave Navy. The A+ and Network+ were great and this kinda job with VM is what I really want to do. When is it you leave the Forces?? I've got 12 weeks to go.

Good luck with your Assessment Day next week mate....are you gonna post up here how it went etc?
