Best bottle of wine
Nominate your favourite wine, red or white.
I like to think I'm an amature (imature )wine buff, anyways I happened upon a red tonight that far surpasses any that has passed my lips previously. In fact I was so supprised I had to post.
It's a new world wine from America which is really fruity, aged in ok vats and is very well balanced.
Price: - £4.49
Country of Origin: Calif USA
Grape: - Zinfandel lodi 2005
Brand: - palomar Creek
Alc: - 14.5%
Store: - Aldi
A fruity easy drinking wine with lots of blackberry and cherry with an ever so slight oak nose. Best bottle have had in 10 years
EDIT***
Please add
Country of origin:
Store: (online or shop)
Grape: (if known)
Price:
Brand:
Alc Content: (if you wish)
Comments: Nose\taste etc.
It would allow those that may want to get into wines to have a try of ones different from the ones they are used to.

Re: Best bottle of wine
Currently enjoying for about £4.99 (depending when and where you get it)
Argento Malbec
Grape: 100% Malbec
Country: ARGENTINA
Region: Mendoza
Producer: Bodegas Esmeralda
However i do prefer Clos de los siete which is a £10 bottle and is a blend of 40% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah

Re: Best bottle of wine
It's hard to find anything I like. I tend to go for a bottle of Jacob's Creek Riesling. We had a bottle of this with the meal on Christmas day, which I liked http://www.oddbins.co.uk/products/pr...ductCode=32086 Naturally, because I like it they stop selling it I don't drink red anymore - not since the red wine and bin incident I've previously mentioned.

Re: Best bottle of wine
managed to polish off a bottle of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon 2004 Leaflaive. Was very nice, but a bit pricey for a mid-week wine

Re: Best bottle of wine
Best cheapo red I've tried for a while is Yaldarra Estate Shiraz 2006, think it was on offer in Tesco.
Favourite all round at the moment is Kanonkop Pinotage 2003. Got a case stored here for future use but not sure how long it's going to remain intact.

6-7 years with no worries and probably to its favour if stored correctly and probably much longer (within reason)
Personally speaking unless its a special purchase or an investment, If I like it I drink it! Obviosuly you will still be able to buy a good vintage year wine in the future, it will just be more expensive!

I know how long I intend to keep it. The problem is how long it will last before it gets drunk

Me too, except I get mine from Tesco at £2.99 per bottle. Surprisingly good wine at an astonishingly good price.
I also like a good zinfandel (as in the OP), or pinot noir or pinotage. I don't like to pay extortionate prices for fermented grape juice, so like trying the special offers. Finding a good, inexpensive wine adds to the warmth.

Re: Best bottle of wine
Not a fan of that one myself, bought it myself once and been given it a few times.
ASDA do a really good Rioja though £3ish, I have found it pretty hot and miss a few times though
