I found this topic on a SF author's blog (John Scalzi), and thought it may spark some interest here.

Here are the author's top ten

Ten Things I’ve Done You Probably Haven’t
1. Been offered a bong hit by members of Sonic Youth
2. Had a gauze-wrapped human kidney placed on my lunch tray as a birthday present
3. Walked into a glass door, snapping off part of a tooth
4. Gotten a thank-you letter from Jean-Claude Van Damme
5. Had the top of my head kissed and/or licked by a few dozen people over the course of a weekend
6. Had rocks thrown at my bus in a Palestinian refugee camp
7. Founded a right-wing college publication (no, really)
8. Wrote someone else’s (successful) college application essay
9. Autographed books that were on the other side of the country at the time
10. Administered a contest for a million dollars

Here's mine
1. Had a hug from Kylie Minogue
2. Left my wedding ring in a shower at Changi Airport
3. Monitored Soviet TU-95 bombers during the Angolan war
4. Sat next to Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins on a plane
5. Had lunch with Margaret Thatcher
6. Was in a drinks round with Dennis Thatcher, Norman Tebbit, and Jeffrey Archer (he paid)
7. Did a bungee jump in Auckland, NZ
8. Been shot in the face (not by airsoft or a paintball)
9. Been attacked by 2 Para (it was an exercise, they didn't do number 8)
10. Slept in a bed with two sisters (over 18) at the same time (not my sisters, and only slept)

Most young kids have done number 2

3. Flown over the grand Canyon in a heli, and a hot air balloon over the Nevada desert at dawn on the same day.
4. Had a 3 on 1 fight and won, the 4th ran off.
5. Endure pain every waking moment without complaining.
6. Not passed a solid in over 20 years.
7. Caused widespread traffic jams and blocked major routes into a City, made the TV, radio, and newspapers.
8. Reached a point in my life where I am happy and accept things for what they are.
9. Got the cane 47 times in one year (record) at school.
10. Get the full 20mb broadband from VM.

I live a boring life (happily so).

1. When I was a child, I cuddled up to Shnorbitz one New Years Eve.
2. Swim in my own indoor heated swimming pool (that was a few years back before I became poor!)
3. Told Peter Lilley to **** off.
4. Given Honor Blackman a lift in my car.
5. Given Rick Wakeman a lift in my car
6. Had a sex change.
7. Rolled my car seven times, fractured my spine and made a full recovery.
8. Had lunch with Sammy Davis Jr. (His table manners were disgusting).
9. Nearly had an affair with a UN ambassador (this is an open forum, so I'm not going to tell you which one!).
10. Slept in a bedroom that Queen Victoria once slept in.

1. Fell down the stairs smashing my head open, lots of blood.
2. walked straight into a cake shop window knocking me out
3. Met Ayumi Hamasaki
4. Been hugged by Sammi Cheng
5. Crashed a car @ 106mph crashing right outside a police station (dont ask lol)
6. Been shot in the face (2 bullets, and 2 grazed the side of my head)
7. Beaten up a police officer (he started it, self defense!)
8. Worked for NTL, was a bad idea.
9. Go through constant pain everyday of my life.
10. Take 12 tablets/pain killers everyday.

[Tricky]

1. Had evening meal on table next to Blondie
2. Had breakfast on table next to Trigger from only fools (the next morning from 1)
3. Fallen through the same roof twice!
4. Been on 7 planes (commercial) in one 24 hour period all flying
5. Been called out to a BSOD on a server using 4 above, to find the standard "blue" nt logon screen!
6. Handled (not created) a telephoney outage with 2000 call centre agents down whilst very drunk
7. Told a judge he was wrong whilst doing Jury service
8. Managed to get 2.4mb/s on a download last night using NTL!
9. Got a NEW 32" TV for a £1 delivered by a well known high street store
10. Inadvertably (spelling) saved someones life in order to stop blood pouring on my carpets!!! (Not traxdata above but a similar event!)
+ Stayed in the most bombed (was in circa. 2004) hotel in Europe on a number of occassions

1 won a full contact kickboxing fight (well a few )
2 ate a whole bulb of garlic clove by clove for a bet
3 had encephalitis as a child
4 gone 130 miles an hour on a cbr whilst stoned out my brain (never again)
5 sniffed evo stik (not proud of this)
6 carried quarter cows (as a butcher)
7 went on strike at school and it got on central news
8 got grassed up for theft by my mum to the police
9 run away from home and had a full police search to find me
10 saw MY bare naked body

this does not really show me in a good light

1. Saw the original Fleetwood Mac play live.
2. Stood on the tarmac at Tripoli airport.
3. Stood next to Elvis Costello in the backstage toilet at the Roundhouse.
4. Had flat raided by drug squad at dawn because flat mate had £600 worth of cocaine - he wasn't there at the time & I was arrested as an 'accomplice' but not proven.
5. Had 'den' under school stage at boarding school, used for smoking & for sleeping in when supposed to be home for weekend but went to parties instead.
6. Took off & landed at 11 airports in one day, starting in a 737 & finishing in a Twin Otter.
7. Hid in toilet most of the night to get free entry to a music festival.
8. Have been a bingo caller.
9. Slept rough in a derelict house the night before taking an A' level.
10. Sat in the cockpit of a fully operational Hawker Hunter jet fighter just before it went on a sortie, felt how hot tyres were just after it landed on coming back.

1. Had my own radio show
2. Taught Take That's Mark Owen how to speak Welsh
3 Taken a 'Doomsday Device' (wrestling move)
4 Slept in the same room as a Miss World contestant
5 Phoned Jo Guest at home
6 Had my bikini line waxed
7 Been featured on a Channel 4 documentary
8 Nicked a blade of grass from Old Trafford when I was 14
9 Went bald at 21
10 Developed cataracts at 29

[Cobbydaler]

1. Fallen 40 feet from a rock climbing route & only suffered bruises.
2. Canoed across the Solent.
3. Taken part in the Devizes to Westminster race.
4. Watched filming for It's a Square World at Bodiam Castle.
5. Been driven round Carmarthen in a Frogeye sprite with a primrose & lilac diamonds paint job.
6. Saw Hawkwind in concert before they made it.
7. Presented a scientific paper in front of an audience of 500.
8. Sat next to Les Dawson in the lobby of a London Hotel.
9. Totally rebuilt a Royal Enfield Meteor Minor Sports motorcycle.
10. Watched Billy Connelly filming Garfield 2 at Castle Howard.

[WHISTLED]

Stayed in the most bombed (was in circa. 2004) hotel in Europe on a number of occassions

Europa, Belfast... Stayed there loads

1. Washed Vera Duckworths hair
2. Bleached Mark Owens hair
3. Had nose broke twice and re-set by friends both times
4. Blown £1000 a week just on going out for a significant period of time
5. Turned down 3 sum... twice
6. Known a proffessional hit man/enforcer
7. Been stuck waist deep in mud
8. Offended everyone ive ever met
9.Forgot tp put hand brake on despite being parked at teh top of a hill (Obvious results)
10. Lost a snake in the house

10.Come back from being in 8th place with only a 'chip and a chair' to win a poker game
