Smoking / Company Vehicles
We've just seen a post woman, smoking, whilst using her company vehicle - I thought that was now against the law?

Re: Smoking / Company Vehicles
Contact the press, tell them to hold the front page .....
I believe you are correct, unfortunately, just like the using a mobile phone while driving, its almost impossible to enforce.
Theres always some element of society who don't think the rules apply to them, but we seem unable to enforce the rules that should be easy to enforce - parking in disabled space etc etc
Short of having snipers on the motorway bridges, its difficult to know whats to be done

Re: Smoking / Company Vehicles
I think it depends if she owns the vehicle.
There's something daft like if the driver is alone and using their own vehicle for business, they can smoke, but if someone else is in the vehicle (even if they're a smoker) than neither can smoke.
Gotta love how Labour write legislation.

Cigarettes tend to burn down pretty quickly while riding a bike so I wouldn't worry too much

Re: Smoking / Company Vehicles
Linky
"Company vehicles are affected as the ban covers all enclosed public places, including company cars, pool cars and hire cars.
If a company car or van is likely to be used by more than one driver, or carry passengers on business, regardless of whether they are in the vehicle at the same time it must be a smoke free zone.......
......Smoking is allowed in vehicles which are for sole use of the driver and are not used by anyone else as either a driver or a passenger."

Only if they were the only person using that bike, and it wasn't a pool bike used by other employees.

From the link
"Drivers of convertibles will be exempt as long as the roof of the vehicle is down when they or their passengers are smoking"
so probably, yes.
