Car problems.

Brakes have started grinding so I phoned my local garage up to see if he could do the work, no problem he said get the pads and drop it round. I got the pads this morning and dropped the car off, he phoned me up about an hour a go to tell me both callipers were shot, he said the retaining spring in one calliper was snapped and the retaining spring on the other side was seized in and he didn't want to remove it in case he snapped the spring.

The car is under warranty via the AA so I got in touch with the garage where I got it from to ask them if it would be covered under the warranty? He hummed and and hummed some more then hummed some more and went on to say that if it's warranty work then it will be covered if not I'll have to stand the bill, I've looked through the warranty and it states that the callipers are covered, now when I take the car back to the garage tomorrow I'm sure he's going to try and get out of doing any work via the warranty, what rights will I have if he tries to get out of doing the work via the warranty?

Re: Car problems.

I recon if it is still under warranty he has no option but to fix it. So long as the parts are definetly covered.

It states in the warranty book under what is covered and whats not covered, it says that the callipers and braking system are covered.

Re: Car problems.

If the garage say no go, I'd ring the AA from the garage, and ask someone there to speak to the garage owner perhaps?
Looks pretty much cut and dried to me if you're covered.
Good luck anyway.

Re: Car problems.

Think yourself lucky - I've just spent £335 on 4 new tyres...unfortunately I couldn't get them in the sales...

Re: Car problems.

Maybe we should be asking Zeph what he drives to think that £83 per tyre is expensive! A bmx perhaps?

Re: Car problems.

Blimey, 2 front tyres last me about 7,000 miles at a push and that's about 140 quid each

No wonder you're going to contest that parking ticket. Its almost like a VAT refund
