Has anyone broken a toe?
This morning I twisted my toe slightly(on my right foot next to my big toe). I heard a click but there was no pain at all. However just now I tried curling my toes and that toe just stays straight. All the others curl up apart from that one. Theres no pain, it doesnt hur when I touch it. Im not sure if the toe is broken or just sprained.
Has anyone broken a toe before? Does mine sound broken? How can I tell without having to make a trip to the A and E?

If you broke your toe mate, You`d know you had.
I broke 2 of mine kicking the coffee table and i could barely walk for 3 days! I think you might have just got the joint to let some air in, same as cracking your knuckles if you know what i mean.

I thought the same, that if I had broken it there should eb a lot more pain. Im assuming its a knuckle think too, if thats the case will it just get back to normal?

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
It's possible that the toe IS broken, given that you can't move it, though if it's broken you will know about it tomorrow, the body sometimes disables pain senses when it happens, but that fades over a day or so, and then becomes painful.
Whichever way, given that you can't move your toe, it's worth getting it checked out.

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
Yup, but I have known people who have done that and worse, and they didn't feel any pain until the next day, it depends on how the break occurs. Like I said though, the fact that he can't move it is a good indicator that something is definitely not right.

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
Get it checked just to be safe. Had horrendous pain when I bent my little toe the wrong way but it was only sprained.

It sounds more like a problem with the tendon, rather than the bone - I'm not sure how much that sort of problem 'should' hurt ?
No idea on prognosis - maybe Salu or our resident chiropractor can help further ??????

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
Possible dislocation, maybe? Best to either find a walk-in centre and have someone take a look, or spend circa six hours in casualty having it checked out. I'd try the walk-in centre first - may well end up referring you to casualty for x-rays, but it's worth a try.

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
Normally with any broken bone you get some swelling, so as said above you will probably find out tomorrow!!
Good luck

lol... I did the same some years back (kicked the coffee table 'in temper'), but broke my big toe and the swelling, it was like a little balloon.

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
When I was about 4, I had whooping cough. Dad woke one night hearing me having trouble and came running, stubbed his toe on my door frame breaking it.
Mum came out to see what all the commotion was, took one look at his face as he hopped around the landing holding one foot, and burst out laughing - he wasn't best pleased.
Meanwhile, I rolled over and went back to sleep

Re: Has anyone broken a toe?
If you do go to A&E, they don't do much anyway. At best they strap the duff toe to a good one next door so you might as well do it your self.
p.s. if it's the little toe, don't strap it to the neighbour on the other foot, it makes you fall over
