The big Christmas film

Did anyone watch Love Actually with their granny?
  • the prime ministers maid cussing like a trouper - good example to set for the kids
  • love story between two shy porn stars - yeah like thats gonna happen
  • some 10 year old kid with a scarily unhealthy obession with another 10 year old - he's gonna get bullied
  • some guy who covets his neighbours wife - even though his neighbours wife just got married
  • some middle aged guy who has an affair with his secretary - at last a story that seems believable
  • and I suppose falling for the portugese maid might happen too
What was the point of that film? Dammit, I wasted 2 hours of my like watching that crap.

Re: The big Christmas film

interesting analysis!

---------- Post added at 23:38 ---------- Previous post was at 23:32 ----------

ok from what I understand the title actually is an abbreivation for "love actually is all around" which is a reference to the song from the previous film.

the film is a very sublte response to the september 11 fanatism. hence why the film ends at an airport arrivals section (and I think begins there).

I think the message in the film is that the world is actually about love and it's everywhere (ie. all around) and it isnt about killing each other and the arrivals etc by plane is a the link to sept 11.

This begs the question, why did it take you 2 hours to realise you hadn't been enjoying it at all?
See, most people can work out if they're enjoying something or not pretty quickly, and so do something else instead.
Likewise most people can work out the different stories about love that were covered by the film.
You appear to have totally missed the love between the rock star and his manager too.
If memory serves, it was on after 9pm, when kids too young to be exposed to harsh language shouldn't be watching.
Do you allow such children to stay up and watch TV post watershed and so expose them to sex, violence and harsh language in your household then?

Re: The big Christmas film

Nope, didn't watch it.

If the title has the word "Love" in it then it's usually one for me to avoid.

Two problems which I faced
1) it was Christmas and kids played their joker card that its the only day in the year that they are allowed to sit up late
2) sitting with granny and everyone was too embarrassed to grab the remote off grandad
3) I'd no other option but to watch it

Yeah, love is all around. Great idea for a film indeed.
