Does anyone have a tortoise?

Hi all, was wondering if anyone has a tortoise and can offer advise?

I'm looking at getting one, but have some concerns, firstly i live in a flat, and so dont have a garden. I have been told, that as long as you have the correct tanks, that is temperature controlled they dont necesarily need to have outdoor space. Im not sure thats true and i dont want to get one if i cant provide the correct environment for it.

Looks like different types require different climates/situations:

Re: Does anyone have a tortoise?

thanks for both the replies, i am still rather confused, as first link says its ok to keep them indoors for certain species and the second one says they should have outdoor space.

im down london way next week so might go and visit one of the breeder people see what he says.
