Parking Ticket

Evening,

Hope you all had a good Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

On Friday I got a parking ticket. (Yeah - Merry Christmas!!)

The parking sign reads:

Free Parking 9am - 4pm
30 Min
2 Hours No Return

To me - this reads as - you can park free for 30 mins between 9am and 4pm and can't return for at least 2 hours - correct?

PCN says:

Vehicle first seen at 12:59
PCN issued at 13:02

In my book - that's 3 mins.

So - I'm going to contest this as it less than 30 mins.

Anybody see any issues with that?

Re: Parking Ticket

Seems perfectly logical to me. How long were you actually parked there for?

Re: Parking Ticket

looks like someone was after their christmas bonus!, i would take a photo of the sign just as evidence.
it does sound odd though.
just out of interest how long were you parked there? it could be that you parked for an extra 3 minutes than you were allowed?

Ohh about 4 hours - but that's not the point - the PCN info is incorrect.

Yep - got a photo of the sign...

See above for timings...

The PCN states - "first seen at 12:59" and PCN issued at 13:02.

Re: Parking Ticket

Looks like a writing up error, you should get away with not paying a reasonable fine for a 4 hours stay, no probs.

lol. normally i have the view that if you've done the crime, you should pay the fine. But in this case i would contest it. Its not really that hard to write the time on a ticket. And it could be that the person didnt even know that you have been there for more than the half hour allowed

"Crime" LOL! Crime in my book is mugging an old lady; or murder, or robbing a bank...not for overstaying in a parking space in Ealing!

I really do 'hate' people like you trying to get out of things on technicalities. You broke the rules, take the consequences, end off.

Was it one of those places where you have to get a ticket despite it being free parking? (A lot of places do this to save traffic wardens having to spot the cars arriving). If it is then you might be out of luck unfortunately.

Re: Parking Ticket

Have you seen some parking meters make you enter part of your number plate so if you pay for an hour but only stay for 4mins, you can't give it to someone else!
