The ban christmas thread..
or operate flexi time !!
christmas is fab but guys lets get real..it is one day that takes a lot of hard work...(if you ar emale ignore this..you just won't get it)
so i propose christmas flexi time..does it have to be 25th? i mean we could tell the kids that santa actually really does not manage to visit a billion odd houses in a few hours andspread it out to a time that suits..eg this year in my house christmas day is 28th dec..(for example only i have not run this past the family yet..)
so we gain more time, less congestion in the shops, less stress all round..what do you think?

Re: The ban christmas thread..
So, when you say 'ban', you actually mean 'postpone'?
You miserable bugger

Re: The ban christmas thread..
Seriously, I thought this was actually going to be a thread for people to post in who don't like Christmas.
Then I discover it's for people who want to extend it by another couple of days!

I prefer the idea of banning it rather than postponing or extending it.

Alternatively, you could just not do anything for it, and enjoy the additional Bank Holidays...

Re: The ban christmas thread..
Why not just go away and escape from Christmas if you aren't into it?
But more seriously, where has all the pressure on people come from that detracts from Christmas so that we all have to run around life blue backsided flies, following lemming syndrome of spending far too much money on presents nobody wants or needs, stocking up on twice the amount of food that is healthy only to see most of it go in the bin, to the extent that when we do get to Christmas day your too knackered to be able to relax and enjoy it. Somehow we've allowed Christmas to become overcommercialised, and peer pressure from our friends, colleagues and families allows us to get suckered in.
bah humbug

Re: The ban christmas thread..
I prefer the low key approach to Christmas.
(1)I keep the worship of mammon to a minimum
(2)I recognise that unlike Chritmas past, there will be no national bread strike and that the shops only close for 1 or 2 days
(3) I dont take too much time off. Holidays are precious and best saved for summer. In addition, too much time off means its harder to go back to work. Dont take your foot off the pedal.
(4) I dont drink to excess
(5) I dont get too involved in "Christmas shopping". I keep gifts simple and varied and i dont expect anything from anyone!
(6) i keep the swapping of cards to a minimum. Cards should be sent with feeling and not out of some dogged sense of duty.
(7) Although not terribly religious,i recognise the value of the spirituality of Christmas and i attend a church of some denomination on christmas eve, if only for the feeling of community spirit and a good sing along.
(8) I take stock of my situation, think about future plans and do some housekeeping..
