Veg steamer

Thinking of getting a Vegetable steamer, is any particular feature I should look for?

As far as i'm concerned as long as it has a Safety cut out (just in case someone forgets to top the water up) and is collapsible so it can go in the cupboard if needed then I really don't see the difference between a £10 supermarket jobbie and a £50+ one

This one didn't look bad to me?

although that said I did look at these
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%3ESTEAMER.htm

No element to worry about burning out on that one..

Or should I really be looking at spending more? (hope not, i'm a cheapskate when it comes to these things )

Re: Veg steamer

We have this one LINKAGE Think we paid £20 from currys over 18months ago. Just needs a de-scale once in a while.

Excellent, cheap and tastey food Hmmmmmmmm!!!!!!

You should be ok because IIRC it has a 30min timer and a full water will last over 45min.

Excellent for steaming everything you can do on the stove and far much more.

Fish, Chicken, Pork, Rice, the list is virtually endless Get one you wont regret it I promise you (or your money back)

A tenner is a tenner in any mans hand. As long as its got a timer you should be ok.

I was looking at the slightly more expensive one since I read a couple reviews of the £10 one and it says you can't put the bowls one inside the other for storage, also silver would look nicer in the kitchen IMO

Re: Veg steamer

to be honest, a simple set of stacking saucepans does the job for us - the fancy electric steamer never got used again, after the first couple of tries

here you go - more expensive, but will last for ages

artsapart is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Veg steamer

I have to agree with the saucepan option so long as you have a tight fitting lid its no problem and no more expensive.

Re: Veg steamer

Asda do a three tier metal steamer for about nine quid or so which is fine apart from when i do dim sum as they stick to the bottom. So i went and got a bamboo steamer again for about a tenner

Re: Veg steamer

I bought one from argos yesterday

Seemed to work ok apart from I think I over compensated for the fact the veg was frozen and overcooked it

30mins was a tad to long
