Last time I had a pair of baseball boots was in the 1970's - and that was because they were cheap, not 'fashionable'

Look young man why ask us?Some of us are 6 or five times your age.Why don't you ask people of your own age who won't go all grown up on you because they will INSTANTLY know what you mean without any explanation being required...
However if you like hanging out with us old fogies(sorry to anyone here under the age of 30) try to ask questions we MIGHT know A)the answers to and B)understand what the question is about.

He was so impressed with the design that he became the shoe's leading salesman. After proposing a few changes to the shoe, the shoe got its current name and Chuck Taylor's signature on its ankle patch.
Consumers demanded more variety from the shoe - particularly with respect to colors in order to match basketball teams - so colored and patterned shoelaces became popular to complement the two colors, black and white, available before 1966. Afterwards, more colors and styles became available. Low-top or "Oxford", high-top, and later knee-high, versions were produced. More materials were offered for the construction, including leather, suede, vinyl, denim, and hemp. Some versions of the shoe were offered without laces, held up instead by elastic. These new versions of the shoe were also co-designed by Chuck Taylor, just before his death in 1969.

..I only ever knew them as sneakers so IF he had asked about sneakers I might have ' got' it.
Only the younger generations talk in logos and brand names.Us oldies deal in more generic terms.
Anyway depends what you wear the things for. They would be crap for sport and wouldn't last 5 minutes as ordinary footwear but then I guess as a fashion item that makes them ideal.

Re: Do you like Converse?
You learn something new everyday, I thought sneakers was an American term for them in general. I would have thought the generic term would be something like plimsoles or something in your day.

Actually, they're very good quality. Expect at least a year when wearing them daily.

Re: Do you like Converse?
Seriously hate the design, and feel of them when on... Makes me wish my feet were A) Either smaller or B) The right shape...
Sad thing is, they are both those things... So, the shoes make my feet look rather odd!
Plus the fashion accessory thing about them makes them rather hated in my eyes.

Re: Do you like Converse?
Haven't we had this conversation already?
Anyway, I like converse, got a black pair myself, got them about 3 years ago in the US - I try not to wear them too often as I have size 11 feet, and it looks like I'm wearing flippers.
