How far could we see?
Yes I know we can see the sun and moon but they are massive objects.
Lets use this.
If only my house and say Emley moor tower was standing and the path between the two was flat would I be able to it?
The distance between the two points in roughly 104 miles and Emley moor tower is 330 Metres high
Would I see it?

Re: How far could we see?
Do I detect aromatic herbal substances in this thread ? lol
Or, could it all be a matter of trigonometry.

Re: How far could we see?
The angle the tower would represent on you field of view is about 0°06'12". That's pretty small, but huge in comparison to some objects you can see (stars...). You could see it, but not necessarily be able to make out it's a tower
Probably more of a problem is atmospheric conditions and how well it is illuminated. There's likely to be significant distortion of what you see over that distance, if it's not obscured completely - we do live in the UK, after all

Re: How far could we see?
If it was a completely flat plane in between the 2 objects or one was extremely tall (you'd maybe see some of it?) then yes I don't see why not? But because of the curvature of the Earth, in reality I don't think this would work?

That, of course, relies on your theory about the Earth being round, which it may not be

Re: How far could we see?
OK in which case you'd have to be stood on a 100+ mile across pancake in space? What were you smoking?

Re: How far could we see?
It depends on what the OP wants to imagine

The height isnt a consideration if the land was toally flat between the two. Surely it would be the width that would determine if you could see it or not given that the width is considerably less than the height
